High hopes for this one. I'll report back with initial thought later. The one tune I've heard has grown on me in only a few listens.

I listened to it on the way to work this morning.

"Jackie Wants a Black Eye" , "Shame Shame", "Sation", and "I Only Wear Blue" are early favorites.

Unfortunately, the sound quality of the leak is terrible...Trust me, It doesn't do tany of these songs justice.

You'll spot an immediate difference in sound when you get the real deal in a couple of weeks.

All and all, first impressions are really good in spite of the shitty leak.

This is album is growing on me with every listen

The harmonies are really amazing and some of the best they've ever done.

I can't wait to see them play this stuff live.

Don't know how many Dr.Dog fans are out there in PJ land but here's a review that I wrote for "Shame Shame" in case anyone is interested.

    Anti

I’ve been on a massive Dr. Dog bender of late -listening to them almost exclusively for the last month or so- driving my Wife just bat shit crazy.

Not since Pearl Jam and QOTSA has a band held me this captive.

“FATE” had such a profound impact on me. I was absolutely blown away. It stopped me dead in my tracks, and pretty much made the rest of my music collection irrelevant. “FATE” had all the elements of everything that I ever loved about music all wrapped up into a tight and beautiful album. I couldn’t believe that this little band from Philly could re-ignite in me that feeling of absolute love for music that I had previously thought waning and depleting with adulthood. Dr. Dog sparked in me that fire that I thought was lost. They are a true gift in my opinion and I’ll always thank them for getting me back on track.

To say that I had high expectations for “SHAME SHAME” is an understatement. Initially I was put off by the earlier interviews with the band that indicated that the new album would be a departure from previous records. I’ve heard this from many of my favorite bands before, and more often than not it usually brought forth less than stellar results.

Honestly, I was preparing myself for a major letdown. But low and behold, the Good Doctor has come through again. “Shame Shame” is definitely a different album than “FATE” and it’s most certainly different from anything that they’ve ever done before…-All the trademark markings of Dr.Dog are there- but it is truly a unique beast of its own. It’s an interesting step for them and makes me truly intrigued to hear where they’re going next.

I have no doubt that fans of this band will be very pleased. “Shame Shame” is thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish and a fantastic addition to an already amazing catalog of music.

    Standout tracks:

“Station” – I really dig this one. It’s got this beautiful longing and sadness to it, but somehow uplifting at the same time. It’s definitely a nod to The Band with an unmistakable “Music from the Big Pink” vibe to it…Can’t wait to listen to this one while I drink a beer and BBQ in my backyard this summer.

“Later”- This song is so damn catchy. Toby really nails this one. Impossible not to have this stuck in your head. Love the production and arrangement on this. I can see this being a live staple for years to come.

“Jackie Want’s A Black Eye”- One of the best Scott songs ever!! -An early favorite- Love the lyrics and the sing-along vibe to this. I can’t wait to hear this live!! The Beach Boy harmonies are amazing at the beginning. It’s got that dreamy “Living a Dream” feeling to it. This will be a favorite of many.

“I Only Wear Blue”- Progression…that’s all that I think of when I hear this one. It’s definitely the blueprint of where this band is heading musically. It’s got a great build just like “Shadow People”. This will be another one to see in the live setting. This one will likely grow to be one of my favorites.

“Where’d All the Time Go”- Definitely not “Fat Dog”. Dreamy vibe to it. Summertime. Warm Breeze. Great guitar solo!!! Harmonies…Arrangement. This is another blueprint of the songwriting of Dr.Dog 2010 and beyond.

“Shame Shame” – WOW!!! Wait until you hear where this song goes!! Wall of Sound. Prevalent George Harrison slide guitar. When this one peaks…it’s a total pay off. I love the lyrics and Toby’s voice –especially when it builds- is unbelievable. This is the song that I’m anticipating the most when it comes to seeing how they pull this off live.
Great closer to a great album.

    Enjoy
    See You out there.

I can't stop listening to this. Not quite on FATE level yet, but getting there quickly.

Ha Ha!! just got my Orange vinyl today -a day early-

I really have to start listening to something else...Shame Shame has been in my car for the last 2 weeks and it's all I can listen to...I just can't help myself, everytime I wake up, I have to listen again, cause the songs have been stuck in my head all night.

I think this one is too down for their style of music. Not shapin up like I'd hoped. The melodies just aren't there for me, especially compared to Fate.
