I'm going to the Boston show. It will be my second Wilco show and I can't wait. Also, my first time going to the Orpheum which I hear is an excellent venue for music. I'm really psyched for my girlfriend as well---she's never seen Wilco.

Richmond. It's a GA venue and my GF's birthday. My bro-in-law's buddy had an extra pair. Just hope there's no glitch to getting the tix from him.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

Here's a question. I know absolutely, positively NOTHING about WIlco. This was the 1 show my GF was interested in. What should I listen to to have a shot at knowing the music?

Grab the live DVD (then you d/l the songs) 'Ashes of American Flags'.

One of the best bands of the last 20 years, maybe ever.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

"Kicking Television" would be an obvious choice for me. It's a double-disc live album from a show in Chicago a few years back including many of the fan favourites.
And although it's not my favourite studio album, "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" is a must-hear. It's quite experimental at times and easily their most critically acclaimed and most successful album.
All in all, Wilco is a great band with a fairly deep catalogue containing some of the most brilliant lyrics out there, and no real radio hits, so the set lists can be fairly eclectic. Always a good time!

Saw them for the 1st time in Atlanta on Friday, they were great. They played close to 2 hrs 40 min, covered all their major songs, went deep into the catalogue for some, and all looked like they were having fun doing it. I loved also no phony, bs encore, they just plowed straight through. I'd see them again in a heartbeat.

So I'm curious as to what you thought? They are easily second in my book behind PJ and put on an amazing shows (without the screw-ups). I would've killed for tickets to The National but it wasn't meant to be. Seeing the setlist certainly didn't help ease things.

I saw them last Friday night and it was my 5th wilco show and it was amazing.

Acoustic Spiders and Casino Queen killed it and the second half of the set was one amazing song after another. They went on a 13 or so run of songs that just kept on rockin.

Jeff let the crowd sing 2/3 of Jesus Etc and it was great.

Plus wilco are cool you can go online and vote for songs you want to hear at your show and they play some of them, but they also pick 5 people who submitted votes and give them gift certificates to local resturants.

These guys never disapoint. 2:45 minutes of goodness for $40 bucks after fees to sit on the 9th row...... I kind of wish some other bands i know and visit would consider trimming the prices down to this area (cough pearl cough jam cough neil cough young)
    Charlotte 00
    Charlotte 03
    Asheville 04
    Atlanta 12
    Greenville 16, Columbia 16
    Seattle 18
    Nashville 22
    Ohana Festival 24 x2

They were great! I didn't get a chance to familiarize myself with their music, aside from listening to a few albums I apparently have on my Ipod on the day of the show. But they truly are great musicians. I sat in the balcony with my GF since we wanted to enjoy the view from up there - and the sound was perfect up there too - same as on the floor.

A few songs in, they set up a redundant set of instruments in front of their other instruments (a small drum kit in front of the normal one, a keyboard in front of the real one, etc) and they put 5 lamps with old lampshades around, and they did a large number of low-key songs.

I wish I knew more to report what particularly I liked. Their drummers is a sick player too.

I told my GF that they seem to be the Radiohead of "light rock". Pardon the use of "light rock", but it's the only thing I could think to simplify their style. Radiohead is known for amazing shows, and every member playing amazing parts - and Wilco had a similar talent.

I was very impressed. My GF had a great time, and this was her birthday evening.

This show turned me on to Wilco! ...now I just need to learn the song titles to know what I'm talking about.
    :)
