Any suggestions? I saw on Google that it's a scam, but don't know how to remove.

Thanks!

Any other suggestions? I think I saw somewhere about copying text into notepad and rebooting, but not sure.

    Super Anti Spyware
    Malware Bytes
    Combo Fix

One of those should do the trick.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

I think this is what infected my sister-in-law's Dell. She was running programs for days, trying to get rid of it. She ended up buying a new computer.

  • Kaspersky is really the best. I had McAfee and still kept getting that virus from webpages - McAfee didn't even send up a warning :x

I paid for Kaspersky but I ended up being able to uninstall all the other freeware apps I'd been running. No problems since July :)

  • You can also download at is a 30 day free trial, which should be good enough to get rid of whatever virus you have right now.

Malware Bytes should do it. ComboFix is good too.

I got this virus back when giventowail was infected. It's a bitch to get rid of.

Exactly.. Too many people buy new computers when they just need to erase the shit. It takes like 20 minutes.. and half a witt to figure out.

I used to work for Geek Squad and we made a fortune off of peoples ignorance towards simple computer tasks.

Seriously, CEO's would come up to me asking why their iPod wouldn't work because they were plugging their headphones into their AC jack..

People in general.. morons.. breathe and focus and figure it out.. most things are simpler than you think!

just do some google searching for it... there are plenty of good tech boards where people have walkthrus of these viruses.

The key is to completely stop all parts of it from running when you run your removal software. These malware programs always seem to have files that start when you start your computer and always run in the background.

  • thanks guys for the tips. I haven't seen it since last night and am hoping i's gone for good. I did go to tools and deleted everything from files to cookies and don't recall seeing any virus pop up since then. I also have pop up blocker on.

If it really is Anti-malware 2010, it WILL come back. Deleting it and its related files will not stop it. You have to use a tool that specifically attacks and removes this virus. I haven't tried Kasperkey, but did have success with Malware Bytes and ComboFix.

ComboFix is powerful so be careful. You can Google how to use it and find a walkthrough, but you have to follow it exactly step-by-step.

Antivirus 2010 is one of the most irritating and annoying viruses I have ever seen.

I agree. Unless you physically deleted the .exe file and deleted some of the registry entries it creates, you didn't remove it. I still think you should download the 30-day trial, saves you a bunch of time :)
