Yep, it was. Again, not a big deal.

Seems to me that you are saying it was a big deal with cheney...so why aren't you upset now?

Are you suggesting that saying something is a big fucking deal is equivalent to telling someone to go fuck himself??

Yep, I have no problem with either and both are really about word choice.

If cheney had said..."aw get out of here" and Biden had said "This is monumental"..both would have never come up. It was about the use of a bad word.

I dont' have a problem with the word in and of itself, but I disagree that its use in these two cases was equally benign. In Biden's case, he was just expressing a high level of enthusiasm. In Cheney's case, it was a personal attack.

Here's how you can tell the difference: Post something here about how fucking excited you are about the new PJ tour. Then post something telling Kat (or anyone else) to go fuck herself. See which one gets you banned.

You are also missing context. But whatever, I disagree because I feel Cheney was attacked because of the word choice, not for the "attack". Just my perspective.

Anyone who looks at a politician as a role model needs their head checked (current, past or dead). Personally I have no role models, and to me, saying you do is silly. People have specific admirable traits which may reflect our perspective or done things we respect, but certainly no one is perfect by any means of the imagination.

People in our nation are weak, soft and vindictive.

Don’t some people look at the President and the Vice president as role models?
I can see the High School graduates this year as they walk getting to the mike and shouting “This is a Big “FUCKING DEAL!”
But you are right ...I don’t know why this was surprising to me.

sorry but you're off the mark here.

One, I was pointing out the inherent hypocrisy of aerial condemning Biden and the White House for a lack of civility when Biden wasn't even the first VP to use the F word.

Two. Biden gets a pass for two reasons. First was scb's defense. Second, Bono got a similar pass years ago at an awards ceremony for exactly the same reason scb cited: the use of the word in an exclamatory or celebratory fashion hardly equates to the common vulgar use of it.

I think it's funny that most of the anti-Obama people (whether religious, conservative or right wing) will find any reason under the sun to chastise this administration...and at least 50% is nothing more than nonsense. The same could be said about many from the left during Bush. Can't we just all agree our government and both parties suck ass

I agree with your first point.

It doesn't matter anyway...but I'm not sure how I can be "off the mark" when I was giving you my opinion on whether or not either were a big deal. I'm off the mark on my own opinion? So I must be pissed off about Cheney and just don't know it yet? ;)

LOL no. Cheney isn't being maligned because of the F word. He's being maligned because of his snide, imperious, contemptuous, and abhorrent attitude toward anyone who disagrees with him. I think that his infamous response of "So?" to the question of why he supports a war that the American people overwhelmingly disagree with it is equally, if not more so, despicable. No wonder he left office with an 11% approval rating.

Your opinion is just as valid as mine, obviously. ;)

The White House seems tickled about this. It's in the mainstream news. This is historic.

I am certain they refered to the Obama agenda as "the Big Deal and the Big Fucking Deal" to compare it to The New Deal and The Square Deal while discussing it in the Oval Office. It is named. It is the Big Fucking Deal but future history books will probably leave out the Fucking. Maybe not.

But Obama's agenda is and extension of The Square Deal and The New Deal so calling it the Big Deal is right on. It's better than calling it the "Greater Fucking Society" I guess.

Her posts in this thread seemed to indicate a lack of appreciation for the word.
