I've been to quite a few, but hands down it would have to be Randall's Island II.

Virginia Beach 2000 must have been pretty moving. You can sure feel the tension and emotion on the boot.

Reading Festival 06. First thing Ed said was to "look after your neighbour" as it was their second festival show in 6 years. Great show, setlist & Ed even shed a tear at how good it was back playing festivals & how well the crowd was. I even got the back of my head in the telecast.

That one is mine too. It was unreal.
  • St. Louis 2000 because I had front row. Ed bent down and asked me if i wanted his pic in which I then caught when he threw it to me. Then I threw up the picture from "Place and Date" of him standing in front of a painted picture of Pete Towsends face that I wrote "In my book you've surpassed Pete Towsend". After reading it he looked at me and said thank you.

To explain why I did that, I had read an article a month or so before the show where he said that he just hoped one day he could surpass his idol Pete Towsend so I felt like if I was going to give him a compliment he might appreciate hearing that.

I also got a set list from the stage only to have a girl I knew who worked for Riverport find the original hand written one backstage as she was cleaning up that night. She grabbed it for me and I compared it with the one from the stage and you can see the pressure points from the Sharpie on the one she gave me. The one from the stage is copied from a copying machine. Both of those are now framed, never to be touched again.

Don't think much will ever top that.

It's a toss up for me...'96 Randall's Island weekend and/or the 4/28/03 Philly show at the Spectrum...the energy in the building that night was amazing....even compared to the last 4 shows in the Spectrum..atleast to me.

I was at Atlanta 2002(ish?), and I swore I saw Ed look out at the crowd in awe while they sang the do-do-doot-doot-doo-doo-do part at the end of "Black". He looked transported and intense as shit. It looked like he might cry out of amazement. They also played Crown of Thorns for like the 3rd or 4th time ever, and it looked like Stone was gonna lose it when he threw his arms up in the air after the song. it was very moving.

Me too. It was my first, I was young (15) and could barely wrap my head around how amazing it was.

In addition to being an all-around great show, hearing Ed discuss Long Road at San Diego 06 was quite moving.

So was the overall vibe of the first Chicago 09 show... From the Long Road opening (Ed: we've got a lot of emotion to get through tonight), then following Given To Fly with Happy Birthday to Mike Richter (who Jeff explained was missing his first ever Chicago area show) into playing Come Back (which immediately explained why Mike Richter was missing his first ever Chicago area show...) to throwing in other songs like Sad, Man Of The Hour, Love Reign, and even Needle & The Damage Done... it was clear that this was a special show for the band, and I thought they pulled off a wonderful and moving set that night.

I was there, it was definitely an intense show. They played a very powerful version of Long Road to open, and changed the lyric to "How I wish for them today" at the end of the song, and the way the crowd sang along to "It's OK" was incredible. They played an amazing show considering it was their first one back, and the crowd was awesome.

oh, I would say so, that was a horribly sad day. I was at home with my kids, no concert, but my son at age ten was a big fan. We had out own tribute that evening. That was a hard thing for him to grasp.

My most moving would be last Halloween, simply amazing it was hard to take it all in
and also Arc/ EV in Milwaukee and here in Atlanta in on '03 when Eddie sang Hide your Love Away
all wonderfully moving memories can't wait for more :D
