Before I start my rant, I want to make it clear that I hold zero party lines and hate both sides equally.

I've heard many people recently say our government is turning socialist or Obama is a socialist. Do people even understand what they're claiming or saying? I believe we live in a very dim society, but to voice your opinion and make claims of things you do not even understand is pretty ridiculous. And just for the record this is what socialism is (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/socialism). And if anyone does actually believes the US is turning into a socialist state, you're insane and are merely misapplying your personal views in an extreme and misplaced manner.

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis

It's the same old tactic the right wing has used for years.

When FDR signed into law Social Security, they called it a communist plot, and that he was a socialist and in league with Marxists to impose Soviet style communism on the United States. And of course, it all came to pass.

When LBJ signed Medicare into law, they called it a communist plot, and that he was a socialist and in league with Marxists to impose Soviet style communism on the United States. And of course, it all came to pass.

When Bill Clinton raised the upper limit on taxes on the rich to 39% from 35%, they called it a communist plot, and that he was a socialist and in league with Marxists to impose Soviet style communism on the United States.

And of course, it all came to pass. The land of the free and the brave was taken over by godless communists and our great experiment in democracy was doomed.

Yes very true, but I don't even think many of these people who say this stuff understand what these terms mean.

Also, I also find it very funny when they claim the costs and ramifications, yet none of that mattered when their side did the same or worse.

    People are dumb.
