I will be doing a small little road trip this May to see a band. You may have heard of them, Pearl Jam?

We have to have some snacks and small meals in the car.

What is your MUST HAVE to eat when traveling by car?

two bags of grass, 75 pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers . . . and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    Clif bars
an awesome trail mix (Target's name brand has a huge selection)
    Doritos, doritos, doritos.
total necessity -- Peanut butter sandwiches (Jelly if you like, or honey...I eat just straight PB)
cooler of other sandwich goodies (for more deli style)
    bananas
some beer for the rest stop. 8-)

Many road trips done over here. All of these are mandatory for me.

I like to browse the truck stop aisles and eat whatever I think looks best at the time. As for drinks, there are usually a million different choices in those places, so again whatever I have a taste for at the time. The best value is the big gulp or whatever the largest fountain drink at the gas station is for like under $1. Never get the hot dogs on the rotisserie.

A few of you mentioned Combos. Does anyone eat these outside of the car? I think they are popular road trip fare because you can only get them at gas stations??

I don't particularly care for Twizzlers.

You could take an English style picnic (in honour of internationalism)?

    Cheese/Ham sarnies
    Crisps
    Sausage rolls
    Pickled onions
    Chocolate biscuits
    Flask of coffee/tea
    Apples

A huge vat of hummus and some pita chips that can be warmed on the dashboard in the sun.
  • Miss Vickie's Honey & Roasted Garlic kettle chips! Although I think Miss Vickie's may be a specifically Canadian brand. They're basically Cape Cod chips.

well it depends how far one is driving.
a lot of weed, hot tamales, water, chocolate candies of some kind, chips of some kind, pizza rolls, and finally chinese food.
if traveling more than 6-8 hours i suggest coffee, energy drinks, and or some high quality speed
