A couple of years ago I read an article about people who get visual migraines. They don't get the pain of the headache but their vision is so drastically affected that they can't function for a period of time. It's a very rare type of migraine.
I wish I could remember where I read about it. Really interesting article.

My husband has those every once in a while. He gets tunnel vision and the peripheral area is just waves. It doesn't last long. From what the doctor was saying, it's not that rare. People just don't recognise it as migraines. I suffer from the pain ones. Nothing works but laying in a quiet, dark room until it goes away. Though I do find that tiger balm does help a bit but maybe because it's cool on the forehead and temples.

But as a couple of people mentioned, the OP needs to get his eyes checked.

I get pretty bad migraines. Got one at Chili peppers once :( that was the tour they decided it would be fun to have just distortion and strobe lighting for 40 mins - but the tickets were expensive so i suffered through it. good times.

I get really weird cravings when i'm starting to get better... or sometimes even when they are really bad - i'll crave maybe like salt and vinegar potato chips on a sandwich with tomatoe sauce. Or crunchie ice cream bars, and then if i eat what i'm craving it usually makes me 90% better.
Since people crave things when they are pregnant due to hormones, i'm thinking my migraines might be hormone related.

They really suck though. One of my most hated things is when people say "oh dear, i have a terrible migraine" yet they are walking around and talking or working or whatever. Nooo if you had a migraine you'd be in crippling pain, throwing up and avoiding all movement/smells/sounds and light. NOT FUN.

I used to get them but not so much anymore....I still get very bad headaches but not what I would consider a migraine b/c I can usually function through it....usually I get them at my time of the month or if I go too long without eating...I also think that quitting smoking, cutting back on caffeine, better diet and exercise have probably helped...Excedrin works best for me it I take it when I feel a headache coming

The aura thing is really weird - I read somewhere there was an art exhibit of people who painted what they were seeing when they were having the auras. I usually remember that when I'm having a migraine so it's useless to try to look it up.

    Fiorocet works for me.

That's what happens to me everytime I have a migraine. My vision gets majorly obstructed by just this white blur...

Yeah, like I said earlier, people really don't comprehend how sick they make you.
I think there's been so many ads and such about migraine treatments thata lot of people think their headaches must be migraines. I used to really hate the ad where people would say "When I have a headache I just want to tear my head off" and then they would RIP their heads off and hold them in their hand. :wtf:  It looked so laughable that it made it seem like migraines are a trivial problem. Which they are not. :x

My sympathy to all you poor people that get them. Fortunately I don't but my wife and youngest daughter do. My wife's could go on for days sometimes. I agree with the posters that say you need to find the trigger.

My wife's is definitely stress. She also can't touch wine and too much tomato seems to set her off. She is prescribed something I think is called Maxi-melt, a wafer that dissolves on the tongue and it works.
My daughter no longer eats cheese.

Man I had a doozy last night... Off the charts pain... Hands numb... Ears full and ringing...

Up this morning and although head is better, still have numbness in hands and my right eye is red as a valentines day heart...

It's been a year, I almost forgot how much fun they can be

Haha! Yes! I had a killer migraine on Tuesday when I got home from school. Woke up in the middle of the night to a huge pounding headache. God, it was terrible.

The frequency of my migraines is down to about 4 per year.....was a lot worse.

    Things I do:
    1. I do not take any headache medicine.....does nothing
    2. turn off the lights
    3. get away from people
    4. lay on the sofa and ride it out
    5. sometimes doing some repetitive heavy lifting will break the migraine

    Good Luck to everyone ;)
