How about no petitions and rather just have a nice good old fashioned postcard mailing to the 10C to let them know how people feel about Pearl Jam playing a show at the Spectrum in its final year???

Heard the news and figured this thread had already been started...this would be a great way to send the Spectrum out.

i know it will never happen but i can foresee PJ coming back to play the Spectrum and thousands of out-of-towners getting seats like they did at MSG. Not trying to flame out-of-towners or anything but it does kind of suck when locals get shut out of 10C tickets. And if you do a show celebrating the closing of a local place shouldn't you make it so the locals get to be there. Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

I think a letter writing campaign is more impressive than a petition on a message board. I already sent one out today. It's .42 a week to send a letter. I figure if they get enough they'll have to listen. I mean it got Andy Dufrense his library in the Shawshank Redemption. ;)

Hahahaha.... actually this makes me think of the story on MMR when they had a postcard campaign for high school students back in the 80s. The school which sent in the most postcards would get a free concert from The Hooters. The station ended up receiving over 20 million postcards and the station had to rent a warehouse to store all the postcards.

Yep, I remember that from back in the day. I don't know if a PJ campaign would generate near that many but I figure if they got a few thousand letters, post cards, etc. it might work. That petition in New Castle, Australia got them a show in 2006. I figure if Australia can do it, why not Philly.

Didnt Eddie tell the crowd to say goodbye to the Spectrum for them?

They are aware the Spectrum is closing, just decided not to play it.

I saw Phish a couple times there and would go back in a second.

And giving Philly 10c'ers first shot at tix, wont happen. I understand the theory but it wont happen.

    Sorry to be Mr. Buzzkill.

Maybe there will be another Vote for Change tour that will give them a reason to play PA (and the Spectrum) in the fall. That place is such a great place for a concert or hockey game. I'm going to miss it more than the Vet when it goes down.

Very true.. but the only problem with this is that no one knew before this week when the Spectrum would close. Now with the approximate date set, the band finishing a studio album, and the management of the Spectrum wanting to send the arena out with a fitting send off (including bands who have an affinity for the place), wouldn't there be a real possibility of the band playing a show at the Spectrum sometime late spring next year??? My answer would be yes, there is that possibility.

Please play the Spectrum one last time.!!!

Of the many times I have seen PJ that show ranks as one of the best! When I was listening to my Camden 2 boot and I heard Ed say "say Goodbye to the Spectrum for us" it made me think how awesome it would be for them to play there one last time. Hey a girl can dream can't she....

I was thinking about this yesterday when I was looking at Neil young tickets for the Spectrum! Let's have some positive vibes And see if we can get our favorite band to play the Spectrum one last time! The place is gonna to be open for about 7 more months plenty of time for PJ to play a show there! A lot of posts on this thread aren't too positive about it happening!

They still have till about Aug or Sept 09.... Hmmm I can see it now, 3 nights of PJ followed by 3 nights of the Boss to close "America's Showplace"

The building will be closed and demolished following the 2008-2009 hockey and soccer seasons with the final planned event to be a concert scheduled for September 30, 2009

decent chance that PJ will be back on the road by then
