Hi, i live in Texas and am going to MSG both shows.

I would like to know if anyone knows the closest hotels, and which would be preferred? I want to stay in a nice area, nothing too fancy buy definitely not in a bad area.

Please let me know.

The closest hotel is The Hotel Pennsylvania which is right across the street but I can not speak to it's quality...

I booked at the Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea which is like 3 blocks from MSG. I needed a room with 2 queen beds cause there will be 5 of us sharing the room. From what I see, its hard to get a room under 200/night. The Chelsea and Theater districts are close by. So is SOHO.

I shouldn't be given advice on where to stay, I'm just in for the shows myself. I just went to Yahoo maps, typed in Madison Square Garden and serched for nearby hotels. There are plenty.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

I stayed @ the Penn that was just across the street of the MSG. It was pretty good. Wished though I had more time to stay in NYC cause the night before I had free Coldplay ticket's to see & payed for the night @ the Penn but I was stuck sleeping over night @ the Montreal Airport cause planes couldn't fly to NYC cause of the storm. I was to be in NYC that Monday @ 4pm. But didn't make it till Tuesday @ 12am. Gave me a few minutes to unpack & head down to the pre party. Good times!

Check out tripadvisor.com for reviews of the hotels before you book.
