Big day: Withdrawing the remainder of my retirement funds

While i was working as an accountant in my old life, i accumulated a decent amount of money in a mandatory retirement fund. Now, 2 1/2 years after leaving that life for the life of a journalist, I am withdrawing the last of my funds.

I figure, I need it NOW ... who knows if I'll ever get to retire?

Fuck it.

Most people really don't have retirement funds?
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.

you sure you want to do that? honestly?
will you get hit with a big tax penalty?
    just something to think about.
of course, as a former accountant i'm sure you thought of these things....but growing up with accountants and working for em...i just can't help but ask. ;) we all need money now, everyone can always use more....but unless you REALLY need it....i'd try and keep it invested.

    just my 2 cents.
kudos to you for chasing your dreams long red.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I just started contributing to my company's ESPP (Employee Stock Purchase Plan)

You can "donate" up to 10% of your pay

I'm doing 4% and we get the company stock at a 15% discount

Plus, contributing to my 401K plan....my pension where I work is a joke so have to find other means

does the plan allow for loans? if the plan allows for loans, you can typically take a loan for 50% of your vested account balance or $50,000 whichever is less. might be a better choice.
