I'm not sure, really. I can't remember exactly what was said, but Ed said something like that was an old joke and it wasn't funny then, and some other stuff. There was a thread on here about it. I think the sister of the guy that yelled it got on here and said something about it. You might find it in one of the Ryman threads from last year. Also, keep in mind that there was always tension at his shows due to people yelling and screaming. Ed (and lots of other too, me included) thought listeners should sit back and enjoy the show - it wasn't a rock concert. So Ed was always trying to get people to be quiet and listen, so this guy's yelling probably got on his nerves - not just because he yelled Freebird.

I was there and in front row when he got angry... and it was because he yelled Freebird. Like you said, he said it was an old joke...and even said, "Get this guy the fuck outta here" with a disgusted look along with the fuck you attitude.

There were some loud people there, including the guy right behind me who screamed his name all night, but Ed ignored him and others. But this guy who yelled Freebird was up in the balcony.

Would that not be just so cool and Dimitris is so deserving of that kind of recognition. But one thing you can be sure of is no matter what PJ plays Dimitris will be happy and rockin and very appreciative of every moment spent with Pearl Jam. He is a true fan and a friend to all.
