Footsteps vs. Times of Trouble

Hey guys,

I'm a relative PJ noob so I was wondering if someone could give me the low down on Footsteps. I first heard the riff on Temple of the Dog and I realize that its the same riffage but different lyrics. I know Ed wrote footsteps and I'm assuming Cornell wrote Times of Trouble? Did Stone and Jeff write the music to it?

    I read that Times of Trouble is based on a riff that Stone Gossard wrote in the late 80s with Mother Love Bone. When Andy died Stone decided to use it for his tribute in Temple of the Dog with Chris Cornell's lyrics. Then later on Stone recorded it with PJ and Eddie's lyrics in which it became Footsteps. Both versions are great but I'm partial to Times Of Trouble because of the piano I think, one of Stoney's greatest!

    that riff is written in Stone, sorry couldn't resist. u can find it at http://www.gremmie.net/bsides/demos/ under the "demos" tab then click "gossman demos" the original title is 'times of trouble".
    Everything has chains, absolutely nothing's changed...

    still waiting to hear footsteps live its one of my fav songs if not my fav hoping for it at one of the msg shows
