Just curious, but what the hell kind of credentials does Ellen Degeneres possess to be judging a singing competition?

    Just sayin'...

    6/12/08 - Tampa, FL
    8/23/09 - Chicago, IL
9/28/09 - Salt Lake City, UT (11 years too long!!!)
    9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1
    9/04/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 2

Probably equally as qualified as Simon Cowell, he doesn't know dick all about anything outside of mainstream pop.

she's actually a good judge if you ask me. she provides the prospective of the casual music fan who doesn't understand or doesn't care to understand singing technicalities. they've never had that before....i just wish kara was leaving next year instead of simon.

That still qualifies to me as meaning nothing.

I bet he could tell you all about V-neck shirts and sweaters though. 8-)

Anyway, I didn't come in here to bash a thread, just wanted to ask a question. Later everyone!

I hadn't thought much of Casey James up until this week's performance, his version of Lennon's Jealous Guy was really impressive:

I agree it was good musically but also emotionally too, he really felt the song
I'm glad he did well I like him very much. I'd like to see him do a little Greg Allman but it probably won't happen. What song style/who is the mentor next week? I heard something about Adam Lambert.

So I'm really liking that finale, not cause of the Idols or who won but both my favorites performed.
Mr. Joe Cocker and Mr. Micheal McDonald.
WOW in the same show, both still doing so well. Do I feel old, yes, life is good!
    They are THE MEN!
A tribute to a life of talent that I have so enjoyed, thank you guys!

michael mcdonald is having a resurgence. one of the biggest things he ever did was do a cover of a grizzly bear song last year.

someone said Sufjan was on AI last night, or Chicago was played. Is this true?

The band Chicago played with the winner of Idol, Lee Dewyze. They did a medley of their hits, it was real good, don't see horns like that much anymore. I'm a fan of horns. Lee did a good job it suited him. It was truly the best finale ever, lots of stars, Alanis Morissette, who looked awesome, sang with the runner up Crystal and Miss Janet Jackson and Miss Christina A and Alice Cooper performed. Casey and Bret Michaels did a duet that was good too. I really enjoyed it.

I dunno, I think Adam Lambert singing with Kiss and Queen last year was better, his voice is unbelievable. Lee Dewyze sounds like a poor man's David Cook to my ears.

I wish Adam would have been there last night. He was sorrily missed. He should have come out and done Mad World with Tears For Fears. I love his Mad World, he is awesome.

Yeah that would have been cool, I love his version of that song. I'm not really sold on his own material, but his voice absolutely blows me away, the control he has over his upper register is crazy.

This was probably my favourite performance of his:

That was wonderful, he is amazing. I do like one of his originals, Whatdya Want From Me and I saw an unplugged special on him that was very cool. He should have won last year, I was shocked when he didn't.
I guess the country wasn't ready or what?

Now you come to mention it, I do quite like that song - he performed it on AI a few weeks back and pulled out some crazy notes towards the end, really impressive stuff.

Yeah I was pretty shocked he didn't win, he's by far the best male vocalist they've ever had on there, in fact technically speaking I would say he's probably the best they've had full stop. Quite a polarizing character though I guess. From what I gather he's out sold Kris Allen by far anyway, so I doubt he's that bothered!

Yes I think he is the best vocalist from AI and is bound to have a great career based on his talent. He seems very much at peace with himself and where he is going and a sensitive person so his songwriting will probably continue to improve. Cheers to him!
