Phish Summer tour - ticket question

I've just recently started listening to Phish and seeing that they announced a summer tour I'd like to go to a show. I plan on going to the Cuyahoga Falls, OH show at Blossom Music Center. I have a question about buying tickets though. I see through there website you can attempt to buy tickets by making a request. I realize your not guaranteed to have you request filled, but if it is filled are the tickets usually really good seats? Just not sure I should commit to buying tickets through their website or if I should go the public sale route.

Also, I know Phish has a large following and many fans that follow them around, but from anyone's past experience will they sell out Blossom Music Center? Just trying to gauge what demand will be like.

I'm really looking forward to the show and would like to have the best seats possible.

Any help or info appreciated.

Thanks.

they get seats from the first row up to the last row or behind the stage. I've had good luck scoring 4th row in their lottery before, but also landed upper deck/lawn seats.

Every show will sell out. A word of advice about seeing Phish is that the light show is absolutely mind-blowingly stunning, and as such, no matter where you're seated, the energy will be huge, the show will be phenomenal. I'm usually a seat snob, but at the two shows I went to, I was in the lawns for one show, and opposite the stage just past the floors at the other. Both were such incredible experiences. As for the tickets.. it's random. If you're convinced that you won't enjoy it unless you're up close, I'd go the Ticketmaster route, but be careful - as they will sell out fast. What I did last time (first experience using their site) was tried for tickets through the lottery, didn't succeed, went through the venue's ticketing website. Since this is your first time, know now not to underestimate the demand... Phish fans travel an insane amount, and like to buy tickets for numerous shows to use to barter with other fans to get tickets to shows they actually want to go to.

  • ^ i disagree that every show will sell out

    they didnt last year

i saw tix on the ground outside the gates of everything from deer creek to the gorge

some will sell out but i bet if the op wants to go to cuyahoga there will be no prob

dont do the pre-sale you'll most likely just get awarded lawns, tho there are those coveted first few rows out there...

even tm reg sale can be useless

for cuyahoga i totally intend to wait til summer rolls around and i bet i pick up a lower pavillion for face or less...just over face and i'll be front section...
and fuck me if I say somethin you dont wanna hear, fuck me!
and fuck me if you only hear what you wanna hear
fuck me...if I care...but im not leavin here

I'm pretty sure the shows sold out... it's just that scalpers were unable to move their tickets. At least that's my understanding, please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • yeah its somewhere between what you and i are saying, sorta depending show to show

but either way tix were semi-surprisingly available for the big sheds right before the shows and i imagine it will be the same this summer...

now the greek and telluride? and i guess a couple of the shows down south are in the 6500-8500 seat range as well...those will be between tough and impossible to get

hartford was a insanely hard ticket, spac was tough, as was great woods. jones beach 1 tickets were on the ground but didn't see 1 extra for JB3. fenway people were throwing extras in the trash because they couldn't give them away.

it's all about the market, and the day of the week the show is on.

Yeah, it depends. This past fall I was about 10 rows from the stage, but last summer I ended up with Lawn seats. I think with the length of the tour and the fact that the hype around their reunion has calmed down will increase the chance of people getting tickets this time around.

I scalped paviolions at Alpine Valley last year for $50 a piece and most people i knew who were in the lottery got lawns. took me half an hour of wandering to find that kinda deal tho. the hype has died down, however and I don't think the lottery is necessary for such a big venue. if you're looking for tix to Toyota Park in Bridgview, IL, go with the lottery becuase the best seats in the house are GA.
