coming to a show in columbus, indy, or cleveland is an easy non-stop flight. our fair midwestern cities are not as bad as you seem to think. we won't be making sex on goats in the middle of our downtown streets. well, i might, but this is a special occasion for me. most people won't be doing that. there is life between the coasts. remember, it's not a given that MSG and boston will be the best shows on this tour. remember places like state college, grand rapids, etc. who knows, if you try it, you might like it. no means yes. don't fight it, mommy.

not to mention youre TenClub membership will go a lot further at getting yourselves better seats.

When they played Fargo, the people with low numbers were sitting about 10 rows back.

  • haha. if only i had the money for the flight ... i've never been one of those traveling fans (only because i can't justify spending the money) ... ticketmaster will likely sell me a ticket or two :)

So what you're saying is that because we live in a big city we can all afford to hop on the next flight and pay for the concert tickets?

possibly, although indy (and to some degree, columbus) will have a lot of chicago folks. i still want to kill myself for letting my 1998 member number expire. ugggggggggh.

Not saying you can afford that, because I don't know you, but the first time someone from the South or Mid-West or Southwest or wherever says something about not getting a show, 957 people get on here and tell us to buy an airline ticket or shut up. Maybe people will be a little more sensitive about it. Sorry people got shut out. That really sucks.

Well let's be serious we all can't afford to travel to every show we want to. And those who do take away TC Tix from those who can only afford to go see PJ in their home city.

Agreed, which is why these stupid little mini "tours" are the real joke.

yeah, i get it. just throwing out ideas there. another one would be to borrow or rent a minivan, pack it full of jammers like a clown car, and viola! your transported to the midwest for next to nothing. and hotels are cheaper, beer is cheaper, so on and so on.

ABSOLUTELY seriously considering it! After only getting MSG1 in an all day affair, and expecting the same for DC, I might just look up some of you fair haired middies.

I was contemplating a trip to Cleveland due to not being able to getting tickets. 2 tickets for 171 (which btw is ridiculously high). round trip 298 bucks each. hotel 100 per night 2 nights. food taxi's etc.

I love pearl jam, but can i afford to pay 1k plus to see them, not to mention the lost work hours? not really....

thats exactly what I did..in '08 I drove from Arkansas to Columbia to see a show..and Columbia was one of the best of that tour, i think you will all agree. There wasn't a show in ARK, but I didn't even try for other cities such as NY, just picked Columbia.

I like picking smaller cities because they're arent as many TenC members and PJ seems to put on a great show (not to say MSG isn't great). My number is 330XXX and my seats were much better in Columbia than last year at the United Center - for obvious reasons.

I since have moved to Chicago, and I picked Kansas City to go to. $139 RT flight. Boom baby. Also, it didn't take long to secure the tickets.

I'm also going to be daydreaming about winning the ticket lottery every day until that day comes..c'mon row 1 baby!! Bippity boppity

Boston to Columbus: 775 miles, 13 hours
Boston to Indy: 949 miles, 15 hours
Boston to Cleveland: 639 miles, 10 hours
Boston to KC: 1432 miles, 23 hours.

My house to the Gahden: 4 miles, could be an hour depending on traffic/MBTA train service

I'm thinking Cleveland looks pretty good. My Element's all packed up with a sleeping bag, camp pillow and the essentials.

 Is 46 too old for a road trip?

i was thinking the same thing ... there are still 10C seats for every other show ... the high number members might get a chance to see them up close ...

what would be cool is if there was a PJSurfing website like the couchsurfing one ... where people could save money by crashing at locals houses ...

After living there for three years, I'll admit I have Indy issues, but that's not why we were trying for MSG. Spring is a busy time for us, thanks to soccer, races, birding (don't ask -- my boys are maniac birders; it's kind of like being a PJ fan, only instead of hitting "refresh" for hours, you stand out in the woods with a pair of binoculars for hours), etc. My older son is taking some AP exams in early May, so flying or driving to where we actually can get tickets does not work due to what already was on the schedule. The MSG dates were the only ones we could fit on the calendar, and, yes, they also were closest for us.

I guess we will have to skip this tour and use our memories of Philly (and our eternal optimism re: Philly boots) to tide us over. (No, not able to try through TM on Friday.)

Sure. We'll just take time off from work, pull our kids out of school, fly them half way across the country, and leave them with total strangers while we rock out.

I hear you - and i thought about doing it, but i might as well take the money I would spend on the airfare and hotel and go to a ticket broker (if i strike out on TM). Then i can take the 1/9 train to the Garden and be home in 20 minutes after the show.

waaaaaaaaaaaah. as if your situation is that much different than the 10's of thousands of other fans who travel for shows. there are plenty of other ways to make it happen, aside from the extremely inconvenient way you're suggesting.

I would love to but all the dates (with the exception of Cleveland, which is unfortunately on Sunday and a school night) are weekdays.

The closest a show has ever been to me is 2.5 hours (Pittsburgh). I have avoided MSG for years. I can stay at a Motel 6 outside Kansas City for $29.99 and the tickets are cheaper. I would have to pay at least $200 per night to stay in NYC. The Pearl Jam dollar stretches much futher if you avoid Boston and New York. Your seats are usually better too. I grew up in Boston and I am a Red Sox fan so it is not that I dislike it. And yes, there are much nicer cities in this country than NYC. Southwest and Airtran are having big sales now if you don't want to drive.
