Is it ok to resell tickets at face value?

My wife is pregnant and won't be making the shows. So depending on how the pre-sale gods favor me, I'm going to have between 3 and 5 extra tickets. My thought was to put up some Buy-it-now type auctions on ebay for the exact face value of the tickets. Obviously I don't want to be in violation of the rules, but I figured that would be reasonable.

Your best bet is to try and find another single 10c member and work out a deal that way....

I've done that in the past and have had mixed results. Most times it's cool, but I few times I've been burned. At one of the Mansfield shows I had a member back out on me just an hour or so before the doors opened.

I figured ebay would be the safer route because both buyer and seller are protected.
  • Why buy them if you don't need them? If you know you could end up with 3-5 extras... that's just wrong. Each member = 2 tickets. Let others have a shot. I assume she is a member too which is what would allow you to get 4 tickets? If she isn't goin.. why buy 4 tickets?

Well yes, but I'm assuming that they put that in there so people aren't scalping tickets. I just want to sell them a face value. I mean, what's the difference between selling them to a 10c member or on ebay? Or, what if, through ebay, I only sell them to a 10c member?

Yikes... chill. I was thinking you were talking about one show. Misunderstanding. My bad for assuming this.

And because of this ^^ you open yourself up to a world of stress by buying more than you need. I've had horrible experiences with people (including 10c members) backing out at the last second because they found something better the day of the show. Best to buy only what you need or give the extras to people you know won't shaft you IMO.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Ten Club told me they prefer it if you find another 10C member to sell your ticket to at cost. I have always been able to do this (using the board) except for one time. When the person did not show up, I had no trouble selling it to someone outside the venue at cost. I have met a lot of nice people this way.

One of the problems of having to buy tickets in pairs.

Technically, if the friend you're going with pays you for the ticket, you're re-selling. I'm a smart ass, sorry. :) I just assumed it meant selling for a profit, as well.

Well, my whole thing is that since I have to pay the 10c up front, I'd rather not wait till the day of the show to get my cash back. And I don't really like keeping cash on me at all if I don't have to, especially at a place like a concert. If I go through ebay I can offset my cost more quickly. Obviously buying tickets to multiple show is a big expense. This goes double if you're traveling, which I will be. The money from the extra tickets would go towards gas, hotel, food, etc.

For which shows? I may need an extra to Hartford and Boston 2.

If you try to sell your extras on ebay you would have to eat the cost of ebay and paypal fees, you could not ask for more than face value even to cover those costs. As many have said, it's best to just pick your tickets up a little early the day of the show so you have more time to sell your extra to someone that day. If you drive to the venue you could stash the money in your car before going into the venue if you leave yourself enough time.
