Any idea where I can buy No Code? (other than Ebay)

Anyone know where I can pick up a real copy (not a download) of No Code? I had it, it's gone though. Totally gone. I looked at Target and FYE and Amazon, and pj.com, but it seems to be out of print? Any ideas?

If it comes to it I'll just pay the $10 for a digital download... there's something about the actual CD I like though.

Thanks!

It's available new from a bunch of 3rd party sellers on Amazon.com.

Sweet, thanks. Got it (and a replacement for Yield, which only half works now) from Half.com. like 9 bucks. Very happy indeed.

Sidenote: I've had two strikeouts with Amazon resellers. Unsure why. Haven't wanted to go at it a third time.

It's sad that an album with Hail, Hail, Off He Goes, In My Tree, and Present Tense is out of print.

  • Bump.

Like the op, I want a physical copy. I've checked my local stores but found nothing but copies of ten and rearviewmirror. I checked ebay and amazon but I didn't see any new copies cheaper than about $30. I'd rather not wait for a future re-release but my options look slim.

    Wow! Wow!

It's just astounding to me that this is actually Out of Print!

When one thinks of all the forgettable crap that is out there polluting our airwaves, videoscreens and record stores, the possibility that some of these songs (Present Tense, In My Tree, Smile, Around the Bend) may be lost to new generations of PJ fans in their original form (barring a possible reissue some year) is just mindboggling.

Maybe I'm just an old fart who needs to get with the times, but for me ownership of a "digital library" that can fit on a thumb drive just isn't the same, but I guess it won't be long before we pine after silver cds and the artfully designed packaging they came in the same way we now pine for vinyl.
    a fool not a fucking god ....
  • Any idea if any noticeable differences between the uk and us versions (packaging maybe)?

why is it out of print?
PJ should re-release it, or can they not due to contractual issues?

Not sure about US us UK versions, but some CDs that were printed later did not have the complete 4 panel fold out cover and I don't think they included the polaroids.

My only guess would be the intricate packaging. I'm sure they made a few million CD's of No Code in 96 with the polaroids and the quad fold case. Once they were sold out, they sold out. I guess it's not worth it to Sony to keep producing an intricate case like that. Sucks cause No Code is one of PJ's best albums IMO.

For the number Sony would have to sell to profit compared to the number that actually would sell...Sony would have to sell it at $29.99. Not cost effective but a crime against the 19 year old that only heard it on iTunes

I found mine at a used record store. I've also seen them at Fry's Electronic Store, and I saw a couple of copies of them at a used book store that also sells CDs (at an exceptionally low price). My copy of No Code has no polaroids, it folds out,. I noticed that there was one with polaroids in one of the used copies at that book store. Next time I'm there I might just have to take them.

I believe that's my first emotocon used on this board.

Edit: Also, amazon is a good place to get out-of-print singles and what-not. I got a mint copy of Merkinball there for three bucks.

There was never any booklet included with No Code, only the polaroids which were in a sleeve that fit into the outer packaging.

  • Just got a copy of No Code in my local Tower Records store, it has no polaroids but it folds out. It was the only one they had, otherwise I'd have picked up another copy for one of you.
