RUBYSDAD: What would help the presales run smoother?

CJMST3KCJMST3K Posts: 9,722
edited March 2010 in The Porch
From previous presales it seems the website crashes or locks up during major presale dates, which often costs us our TC tickets, as we can't finish purchases.

Would it be helpful if those of us not buying tickets log off of the forum and not look in Goods for like 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after a presale?

Trying to think of things we can do on "our" end.

:D

I pretty much stayed off the site today...I went to log on this morning and it was slow and then I remembered tickets went on sale today, I'm not going to any shows so that's why I forgot, so I didn't log on...plus I was actually kind of busy at work today so that helped me stay off
  • I logged off today before the presale. I think it is a kind gesture to those trying for tix. It could help if enough of us logged off.

Close the forums completely until after the presales, maybe 15 minutes before to an hour after the last sale of the day starts or something.

I don't think the Pearl Jam 10club Community Board is on the same server as the pearljam.com goods section. So serving the message board shouldn't cause any slow downs when surfing the goods section.

I dont know - when the site was crawling during the presales today the board was as well. Once the ticket congestion cleared up the board was running smoothly.

It could just be more people were on the board too, so I'm not sure.

    1) Stay off pearljam.com and the forums during sales unless you are buying tickets. If you want to buy that DVD or t-shirt or whatever, wait a day or so.

1a) The same thing goes with calling 10Club. Don't call them during presales (and the days after) unless it relates to tickets.

    2) Have your credit card ready 15 minutes before the on-sale time. This way, you're not fishing around for it as you're in the process of buying tickets.

all 4 shows tic are still available....i was of at first 2 presales ..dont see any problem
today only the ones want to score tix are so many so probably the server will have some problems..no matter what..
and please ,the ones u ask that now ,do it yourself during European tic presales too,for no need 47 minutes to open the Dublin tic page and see that is sold out..

Lost in Ohio's suggestion related to members not overwhelming 10C's phone-lines with unnecessary calls, in addition to members not overwhelming 10C's server.

what does asking a question to which you already know the answer accomplish?

I think it's interesting that 10C posted ''tips" on getting tickets this time.
Seems like some of their suggestions were pretty obvious but maybe not for newer users.
The 10 minute time out sort of worries me, even though I think it's a great feature, b/c I've had tickets in my cart only to have the system crash and it literally takes at least 10 minutes to log back in and hopefully retrieve them.
I guess all will be revealed this afternoon when Boston,& MSG go on sale.

I appreciate your honesty. "Calling them as you see them" is a good quality. :) I do differ with your opinion though. I will indeed be trying for MSG TC tickets, so inherently it would help me get TC tickets if the site didn't freeze up. But if I get shut out, it won't affect me too much since I have other avenues to get good tickets even if the entire venue is sold out. So if the server locks up, it wouldn't affect me as much as others.

I thought it might help everyone during this particular day of presales with Boston and NYC (their biggest draw, from all over the world) to stay off the website and forum 30 minutes before and after. :D
