Stickers on your guitar...

So I'm thinking of covering my guitar with a bunch of stickers. If anyone has done this before, is there some sort of lacquer or clear finish to put over the body of the guitar once they're on that can protect them from getting faded or peeling off? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

In the long run I don't think there is any reliable way of preventing the colours from fading around that sticker. It's just what sunlight does to the finish. So you'd better choose a great sticker. :) I know there's a lot of people who resent that, but I think as long as they're well chosen, stickers on guitars are pretty cool.

My strat is covered in stickers but, now that I'm older, I kinda think it makes you look like a poser or tool...but that still doesn't mean that each sticker (like on my guitar) has a meaning or story. I guess it's up to you. My buddy bagged on me for putting stickers on my guitar because it ruins the finish

I've had my sticker on mine for 3 or 4 years and i didnt prep the guita or anything before hand... just slapped it on.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

  • To each their own, but you may regret this later on...especially if its not a great sticker. Personally I think it looks a little immature if its covered in them, but then, like the poster above this with the tele, it can actually look good. I'd worry about the finish though. I took stickers off my guitar almost ten years ago to sell it when I was only 14 and the finish was fine though.
