Anyone else in MA getting flooded

I've been vaccuming water out of my basement since 8AM this morning. We have had 7" of rain in the last 36 hours and the ground is so saturated that my bulkhead in the basement is finally letting water in. Every 10 min I have to go down and vaccumn the water off the floor. I have probably bailed about 50 gallons of water out so far.

Make it stop!

I usually get a little water in one certain area of my basement when it rains heavily. With this storm there is water everywhere. There are people who I work with that called in today because they had to spend the day cleaning out the mess in their basements. Trust me, it's not just you!!!

I had a permanent sump pump installed in 2006 when I returned home on Mother's Day night after being at my in law's overnight and having gone to the PJ show in Hartford to find my crawl space filled to the top with water and my furnace knocked out. That pump has been going full bore this weekend.

3 of my employees called in today to pump out their basements.
    This weekend we rock Portland

I'm watching the news now in between vaccuming and parts of Waltham are under water. Doesn't Crazy Breed work in Waltham? Did you have to bring your canoe to work today?

Exactly..Thankfully it isn't right on the water like those poor people.

Just for everyone's amusement, not once, not twice, but THREE times today the hose on the sump pump decides to pop off while I am standing over it. Soaked to the core. I am running out of crappy clean up clothes. I rather have pee in my mouth than basement water all over me. At least I know what is in pee. Basement water, can't really be too sure of that. :D

Rain in Northampton area but no flooding in my basement.

Changed the grade a bit when I bought the house and put leader extenders on the gutter leaders to direct the water away from the foundation. So far so good.

Good luck. First house I owned had to have a sump pump.

I was hauling 5 gallon buckets of water up my basement and outside non-stop from 5-11 PM. My entire road is a lake and my house is an island completely surrounded.

Couldn't get a submersible pump anywhere in the state of MA. Finally have it under control (I hope)

Good for you. I hope your street dries up quickly. It is now 2:15 and I am STILL hauling 5 gal buckets up every 20 min or so. I have been doing it since 8AM and I refuse to give in until it stops.
