thanks! unfortuantely i missed this because i was at an ani difranco show in my town where i saw my ex's brother! :o he was cool, though, he came over and smoked a bowl or 2 and gave me some unhappy updates on what's going on down his way

Watching Pearl Jam is like eating pizza. Even when it's bad it's still pretty good. Although I felt the performance last night was some bad pizza.

i enjoyed it very much. but then again, i've always been very thankful that i've been able to sit back and just enjoy the band that's bought me so many amazing experiences over the years.

i don't have to have a show with the best seats, i dont feel all smug and special and more of a fan when a rare song is played at one of my shows. i love and respect Eddie when he is sick and his voice is shitty and he is out there giving it all up for us when he could be sitting home with his family, and i don't push my best friend out the way for the last poster.

I've been into the band since i was really young. they've been such a big part of my life. When i think back, i can relate certain tunes to pretty much anything significant that has happened in my life. Pearl jam have been there with me when i've laughed, cried, been apprehensive, ecstatic, scared, frustrated, they've run the gamut of my emotions. more than anything, and singly most importantly, they've been there every step of the way. I feel like i have grown up with them, kinda like a best friend. I've never tired of them and i've always been able to feel that connection to their lyrics.

and i understand they are human. not perfect. i also understand that one day they will stop, it's not gonna last forever. then people will really have something to complain about.

Very, very well said ... Except I DO get all smug when a rare song gets played at one of my shows. :P

How much of the internet is blocked for you in China? And, if it is blocked, is it easy to get around?

I ask, because I have a friend of mine who is currently teaching English in Beijing, and I know he doesn't have access to much of the internet. Like....... he can't even get on Facebook very regularly.

I can access everything. But that's because I use something called 'Freedur', which costs $40 for 6 months. It allows me to access everything. Tell your friend to check it out.

I did use 'Tor' before but then a few weeks ago it stopped working. I know someone who's used 'Freedur' for a year and has had no problems.

1....I do and that is to any show...if not I could just stay home and watch a video
2....He has a contract, I do not fool myself into thinking he is here for me.
I wish he could cancel shows when he is sick or just not into it....because the last show I saw them was in Tampa right after those fans were crushed. The band was not into it which I understand, I would have rather they cancel the show so that I would not have drove 200 miles to get there....I did have a great time hanging with other Pearl Jam Fans on the floor...
3....Same here....I was just watching the Evenflow video last night as my son was laughing at me for it....he said it brought back memories for him also, as I worshiped PJ back in the day...if I was not in the best of moods back then my son would ask, Trying to cheer me up, “Mom you want me to put on some PJ”?

wow aerial, your post makes you sound very pompous and very selfish to me. people rail on pearl jam fans for being "elitist" and i can see why with quotes like you having to have the best seats at shows or you "could just stay at home and watch a video"...wow... i think most of us would just be happy to be inside the venue and prime seats would be a bonus. i've seen them about a dozen times some with awesome seats and some with not so awesome seats and you know what? i had a great time and a great experience at all of the shows.

secondly, your point that ed has a contract and that he is not there for you is just nonsense. bands just don't cancel shows when they do not feel good. it is best to just soldier on and fight through the show and give it everything you have instead of having to deal with the hassle of refunding ticket money, angry fans, angry promoters, angry corporate sponsors, the venue that made no money that night, your road crew that is not getting paid that night, etc. its about more than just the band and the contract. having met ed before one of the vote for change tour shows and talking to him for 15 minutes when he was sick, he said that what they were doing is too important to them to just cancel, so again he felt he had a duty to the fans and to the vote for change movement. i have a couple of hundred boots and several concert videos and ed has never been one to "phone it in". him and he band have always put on a hell of a show, even when sick or when their hearts may not be into it.

i do not know how clear your memory is of the events afte Roskilde, but i remember that the us tour was in jeopardy and there was talk of the band taking a long extended hiatus to deal with those events. nobody was sure if they would ever tour again. they played an amazing first show at virginia beach as their first show after the tragedy. it was one of the most emotional things i have ever heard with them mixing "its ok" into daughter. for you to suggest that you were somehow inconvenienced or wronged for having to drive 200 miles seems quite selfish to me. i have the boots from that show you are talking about and i do not hear eny evidence of "their hearts not being in it".. touring was like therapy to them and for you to sit there and say they should have cancelled is an insult to the band and an insult to those victims in Roskilde, who would have wanted the band to soldier on. you are lucky you even got a show on that tour so you should be thankful for what you got. imagine if you went to work and 9 of your co-workers got killed, would you easily be able to go back to work and "have your heart into it" knowing that 9 people died there? i wouldn't...
