whats the chances of getting Jack back for the fall?

edited March 2010 in The Porch
since Matt is gonna be busy with that other band and PJ not touring as hard as they used to, sounds like the perfect time to call up Jack for a little mini-tour at the end of the year. make up for those Vitalogy-No Code tours that never were! it would be a dream come true to see a Jack Irons Pearl Jam show!

they could call up Dave too, but sounds like Ed still has a hate on for him. :(

What if Dave never left the band?
What if bush never got elected?
What if you were never born?
What if ed never kicked out Dave?( which isn't how it went down)

    what if what if

why can't people just accept reality, and stop second guessing everything under the sun

    the reality is
matts the drummer...... End of discussion

this isnt another one of those best drummer threads so dont give me that crap. i just think it would be awesome since Matt is away anyway to get Jack back, at least for awhile. its not like Jack was on bad terms with them or that Matt and his hardcore worshippers would get butthurt over it.

and Ed did kick Dave out. that is how it went down.

According to Wikipedia, a quote from Spin magazine reads, "Pearl Jam's sound engineer Brett Eliason stated, "We went and did Hawaii and Australia with Jack. When we came back, Jack wasn't in a position to carry on. He made that decision more or less by himself. He can be a really great drummer but he had difficulty on tour putting out the energy for the length of shows they were doing. I don't know if he thought they'd put things on hold for him.""

I think that makes it pretty clear this won't happen.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Tour with ALL drummers playing all their material. This would also give Matt enough rest that Soundgarden could be the opening act.

Do all the drummers get separate dressing rooms, or have to share? That could get dicey. What do the other drummers talk about in the down time if there is a single dressing room? Do they rip on Matt when he's out there? I'm intrigued by your theory.

Members of The Who had their own dressing rooms when touring... at least Entwistle did. I know this first hand.

How fucking sick would that be? Watching Dave jam out on Animal again, bashing away on Go.... DAMN! :(

btw, i think people are assuming an awful lot in thinking this Soundgarden thing is just some temporary phase PJ is Matt's first choice. im not saying it isnt, but who knows?
  • as cool as it would be to have jack play with pj again, it is unlikely he would be apart of any tour---matt is the drummer

and secondly, who says matt will have any problem drumming in the fall?...to my knowledge soundgarden has sold absolutely zero tickets for a tour that has no dates listed....while chris cornell's tweet that the band was back together created some excitement, it is possible it is no where near enough to support a tour of any length or size

so, at this point, i'm not too worried about pj being delayed for this sg reunion

Not to mention that was 12 years ago.. if he was having troubles making it through a show at age 36, I doubt he'd be better at age 48.

Matt Cameron is a machine. There's a reason he's with a band of this much energy.

I agree, which is how he sounds on a number of songs, unfortunately.

BTW - isn't this totally the best version of SOLAT?

Let's cross that bridge when/ifwe get there!

And what's all the urgency about? They have been touring, and are planning to in the future

    what's a hiatus to u? A few months off?
