They seem to be more expensive than usual, $75 a piece. Anyone have any idea why? I have never paid that much for a PJ ticket in the past.

Every time I check my order history, those 2003 prices still stare me in the face. Use to be $75/pair. But yeah, $75 a seat is crazy, and I fear it's just going to keep going up. As someone who works as a production supervisor for tours that roll through Pepsi Center, I have seen big bands charge insane amounts, but also ones who charge less than $75. So I don't know why, as band who use to stand for affordable tickets, is charging as much as they do in places like Missouri.

Of course, this doesn't stop me...just may limit the bigger cities. :) Love their music too much to not be a part of it live.

actually it would make sense to charge more in the smaller draw areas...I mean you multiply price by the number of tickets sold to get revenue...and I would imagine the cost to play MO is pretty much the same as playing NY, so you have to make up for it somewhere, hence, you increase the price to make up for the difference in quantity.

I mean the other thing is the band isn't the only organization setting the price. First they've got all their costs to cover, so if their suppliers are charging more, they would have to. I would imagine energy costs play a big role in the total cost of production. There's the whole crew to pay, probably have some outside contractors...then there's the venue, and all their suppliers and contractors, the promoter, all the middlemen involved...I mean I'm sure the band has a significant say in the price of a ticket but they're only one part of it. I think it's pretty amusing when people just blame the band for not caring about the cost to fans...but if you want to play huge arenas and compete with other huge bands you have to charge in the ballpark.

...I've always paid that much for a ticket in the past...I mean not always, but they were $75 in 2009, 2008, and probably $75 or close to it in 2006...2003 wasn't much cheaper either, and that was 7 years ago.

Also ticket prices may fluctuate based on the opportunity cost in the particular year...so say another big band like cold play or somebody is touring...the venue how much money would the venue make booking pearl jam that night rather than booking the alternative? How many marginal concert goers are going to choose one of the other? The more bands of a certain class that are touring, the more competition each band and all the associated businesses face for your concert-going budget.
