I've never been before. I'm assuming it does not even compare to Alpine Valley. Does anybody know if camping or tailgating is allowed? Hopefully so, but if not I'm sure there will be a Wishlist Foundation Pre-Party somewhere nearby to hang out before and after the show.

Deer Creek is better than Alpine.

Ever been to DTE Energy (aka Pine Knob) in Detroit? If so, is Deer Creek again a better venue?
  • I was considering this show, then realized it's an outdoor venue. PJ is the first show scheduled for the summer. Am I crazy in thinking that first week of May in Indiana could very well be pretty dang cold at 9 PM?

Nothing a hoodie and 20,000 fans to keep warm. I'm more concerned with a rainy dreary day.

Considerably smaller than Alpine and really, these two venues don't come close to comparison. Alpine is the creme de la creme of outdoor pavilion venues. I don't believe you're allowed to tailgate and this place has pretty strict curfew rules (expect a lot of quick, fast songs). Leaving the venue via parking sucks (hence, in 2003, many people were leaving during Ledbetter, in which Ed called us "pussies leaving for accounting the next day"). And who knows what the weather will bring? It's definitely a risky move to play an outdoor venue in early May (risky in regard to the fact that some people may be freezing their tails off). That being said, I do remember May being quite warm at night in Bloomington, but then again that was the early 90's, I was in college, and it's about 60 miles south of Indy.

    c'mon now

i like alpine a lot but that lawn is ridiculous, makes it tough to enjoy a show, the pavilion is the only way to go there

and there are other outdoor venues that blow alpine away

gorge, red rocks just to name a couple
and fuck me if I say somethin you dont wanna hear, fuck me!
and fuck me if you only hear what you wanna hear
fuck me...if I care...but im not leavin here

I agree that Gorge and Red Rocks blow Alpine away. I guess I should have been clearer as my statement should be in regard to pavilions....And yes, you can only do pavilion at Alpine. But it's amazing to look back and see how friggin people are behind you.

  • with that i can agree completely

inside that pavilion has a very cool feel for some reason, its like the stands really funnel down to right on top of the stage and just feels dope, hard to get into your seat with beers if yer in the middle if one of those looooong rows tho

Camping is allowed near the venue. It's a decent walk to the show from the campground. Maybe a couple beers, depending on how much you've already drank. Longer walk back, with all the stumbling. Fun to drink at campground before the show. It's just like tailgating with tents. I'll be there.
