Travel tips - Cologne and Brussels?

Hi,
I'm traveling to Germany this Easter and now I'm looking for ANY good tips. Staying in Cologne for 5 days and I'm planning to do a one day trip to Brussels by train.
If you are local, what is the things you would like to show to a foreigner?
What to eat? Where to eat? What museums to see? Soccer? Possible to get tickets? Is anything open in Easter time? Any other nice places near Cologne? Can I get bratwurst and sauerkraut in Cologne? Can I get arrested for eating too many bratwursts?
And yes, I'm interested in almost anything...
Oh.. and my staying at Barcelo Cologne City Center (ex Crowne Plaza). I hope it's not a shithole?
