I really fail to see how this will solve unemployment or increase manufacturing jobs, I know here in Canada most consumer items are made in China. Is it the same in the States? I assume it is. Any thoughts from people on both sides of the border.

This is nothing more than a poor attempt to correct a wrong, but all the damage is already done. We enabled so many factories and jobs to move out of our nation in which they won't come back due to profit margins, cheap labor and labor laws in foreign nations. The only way I see this being corrected in any way is our government gives incentives to promote US factories, workers and products, but since we are more apt to cave to cheap products and free market rules, it seems unlikely.

The same happened here, our manufacturing base is crumbling, to me the problem is no longer NAFTA its cheap labor.

The policies which help us become strong and gain economic control is coming home to roost. Irony or justice?
