It's about time they had a thread all of their own. What with all the excitement in the build up to their new record, I've not stopped listening to them lately. So anyway I thought I'd get things rolling with some videos from their Rolling Rock Town Fair show from 2001 - they were on stunning form that day, I just hope they're this good when I see them in the summer:

The way Scott sings it live is much better, and there is a nice echo.

I see a lot of praise for that Rolling Rock show and i'm suprised. I was at that one and it was so bad I left. I'd seen them 5 times in the past and the was first time they'd appeared, to me, like scott had lost it. I was sad :(

My favorite STP cover. This was an insane opener!

“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

I was the opposite, I thought that was the best show i've seen from them. The last one i saw from them (few years ago at WMMR BBQ) I didn't care for at all. Their set list was great at Rolling Rock.

So bad you left?! What was bad about it? The crowd seemed to be loving it, Scott's vocals sound dead on, band are playing well :?

Shine on You Crazy Diamond going straight into Vasoline was AWESOME. They did that in 2002 :)

I like it! Glad it's not a cheesy picture of the band!
  • Saw them in Manchester, NH last summer. Although it wasn't a huge crowd, great performance and they sounded like they had been playing together all along. Great setlist too
For every tool they lend us, a loss of independence

I made a t-shirt design that is similar to that. 8-)

Great minds think a like. Can't wait for the new album. Listened to Purple on the bus ride to work this morning -- such an awesome record.

That would make sense. The design is almost identical to an Obey shirt I have...which is Shepard Fairey's line.

love STP, but I'm rather pissed off at them for canceling their New Year's Eve KC show last year. As a result I had to eat some cash for the hotel room I had reserved on priceline. They just came back to KC but wasn't going for that again. Now I missed my one chance to see them. A-holes!
