yeah, the heavy synth is what is keeping me away from purchasing the album. it's just a little too synthy for me. i do really like "Out of the Blue", though.

I'm a big Strokes fan myself, but I'm not quite sold on this new album...I miss the edgier sound of the Strokes here.

saw julian last night in charlotte. i was really impressed. the songs were not over powered by the synth. sounds so much better live. he also played "hard to explain" which was really cool.

    Love the album.

The melodies in "Left and Right in the Dark" are simply perfect.

I'm seeing him tonight in Chicago.. I've always loved the Strokes. This album was a slow grower for me, but now I'm hooked on it. "I Wish It Was Christmas Today" just gets me in a goofy, happy mood, so I'm glad they've been playing it.
Anyone that's seen a show from this tour so far- is there an opener?

i still haven't heard his album yet but do plan on getting the 7" on record store day. 1 of the owners of the store said his album was of montreal-ish, is that accurate?

there was an opener but i dont remember their name, so needless to say i wasnt impressed. from cali is all i remember.
  • Opener was Funeral Party..They we're simply just really young but had great energy maybe because Detroit reminded them of their hometown East L.A.? Hard to say..But Julian was really amazing to say the least..I can see why these songs are his solo work and not the Strokes..Monday shows are always great!! and so are Sunday shows, they keep alot of the drunkard riff raff away & any Spun Monkeys who decide to take some mind altering substances..Just my take..

Spoon on the other hand on Tuesday last week you would've thought it was a Friday or Saturday..Saw two kids fish out and many peeps gettin crazzee loose...Probably alot to do w/ Spring Break...To each his own, who am I to judge...Just don't puke on me...lol

Good show In Detroit on Monday and I always love going to St Andrews.

Julian has some wild sounding songs and they sound crazier live. Out of the blue, left and right in the dark, and 11th dimension were just incredible. Since I first bought this album, those 3 have been in my rotation daily.

Fucking great to hear him do Hard to Explain and a totally alternate version of You only live once (my fave Strokes song)

Cant wait for a new Strokes record though
