What happened to all the anti-war protestors?

Did I miss something? There hasn't been a major anti-war demonstration since—what, the RNC in 2008? Aren't there two wars still going on? Didn't President Obama just ramp up one of them even? I guess war is the answer as long as a "progressive" is in the White House. Even Ed and PJ have softened up the anti-war mantra in the last year. What has changed here? Very interesting.
So this life is sacrifice...

"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
To be blunt, I don't think any of the protestors want to protest the first african american president.
They probably voted for him too. So... war is ok, as long as Obama is in charge of it. It was easy to hate Bush's war policies. He was white and republican. Black and democratic? No way there will be any protestors.

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis

That's good question, I don't know if it's due to the economy here in DC but the protest of our wars does continue. It continues but on a smaller scale here in DC. The last protest that i participated in was December last year through Code Pink, protesting the war in Afghanistan. A group of less than a 1000, we spoke out in the cold luckily before our major snow storm but i'm not sure how many was listening.
Before that I participated in was March 2008, a cold big ones in (never been so cold in life) March 2007 and January 2007. Overall I'm now seeing it doesn't matter who's in power and under whatever administration what effect these anti-war protest march accomplish. The many I was a part of under the Bush administration I wondered what was the effect then and was anyone listening. Troops are still being killed just in smaller numbers which seems to lessen the anger towards these wars but civilians killed are on the rise. War it seems has become second nature to this country and now appears to a complacency in the minds of some of citizens which seems to make no difference who's administration is in charge.

Now that is about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, OK one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. I may not have voted for him but I'll protest against a purple coloured president if he's a warmongering one. To me it doesn't what color he or she is, if they are pro war I WILL feel compelled to protest against those wars sometimes actively sometimes not. Even though troops are still being killed today many many more were being killed when GWB first years in the war so was the anger towards the wars at that time.

Keep in mind we are speaking about the anti war protestors aspect of the OP not all the other bs criticism's of his administration.

realize where they stand in it......
All in all.....the protesters will long be forgotten, the riding of their parent's and professor's coattails of the 60's was just a fad.
I still have some level of respect for protesters now that have sticked it out, I may not see eye to eye, but they are passionate about their beliefs and really educated on the issues.

The opposite side of that question is... since the wars are still going on... the war supporters are supporting Obama's policy on the wars, right?
And by the way... I'm still here. Still pissed off that we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan and still writing to my representatives.
Hail, Hail!!!
suddenly it's not unpatriotic to question the president anymore
what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?

Which begs the question... are the people who are asking where the war protesters have gone... Obama supporters? Logic tells me that if they support the war... that President Obama is prolonging... they must support President Obama on this issue... right?
Hail, Hail!!!
Let's see if all media including FN will give this march some air time unless of course a riot breaks out. I'll be there though.

Major anti-war demonstrations are over because the majority of demonstrators were more interested in gathering together to smoke pot and scream at their ideological opponents than "end" a war. Now that one of their own progressive revolutionaries is in the White House they could care less about the wars (which were ramping down anyway until Obama sent more troops in).
That's why I hate most protests and demonstrations. They have almost nothing to do with principles and everything to do with people making themselves feel better through anger.

i wonder how you arrived at 'most protests' and 'the majority of demonstrators' ?
have you ever actually been at 1?
my guess is the first anniversary obama was president for he was only in office for 2 months and a lot of people mistakenly thought he'd do something about them. at least give it a chance to see how many show up this year before you make such broad assumptions
what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?

I gather from the way you started this thread you may have assumed no one wants to demonstrate against this administration because "their Man" is in the house. It's then presented to you that protest marches have been done and are being done against this adminstration on these wars. Then you make light dislike them and what a majority of them will smoke and scream. What was your goal in starting this thread I thought it was to find out if ANYONE *progressives* would march against this administration in an anti-war protest and they have and will continue till it ends.
Have you ever SEEN how much security is at these marches, there's a reason why you don't see that many because it cost money to get the required permits, security etc. In the many marches I've attended here in DC I've not seen anyone smoking anything other than a cigerette. Yes the effect of these protest marches on this and other administrations can be questioned as to what change they will bring but at the very least they're being done.

I think similarly about those. I agree with the sentiments but I wish there was more articulation and less circus going on. Rallies (of any kind) tend to be excuses for bored people to get together and feel good about themselves.

if you don't see them - you aren't really looking ...
but if your point is to point to some hypocrisy amongst democrats - then you're accurate ... there were a lot of fairweather folks ... but if you were on the board here pre-election ... many of us who are truly left said obama would not stop the war machine ... they are just too powerful ...
