I wrote this for my best friend's birthday the other day. I'm not a poetry writer by any means and I know it is quite simplistic but it was written in hopes of putting a smile on her face and it accomplished that goal.
And it comes from the heart....
If I had my way I would give to you the world
Because you truly are the most special girl
Worthy of the best you will always be
And it's hard to explain just how much you mean to me
You pick me up when I am down
And you laugh with me when I'm a clown
A true friend and companion to me you have been
And I know our love will never end
Caring and kindness to me you have given
And you've made life so much more worth living
Good times together we've had aplenty
And when you are near gloomy days aren't many
A true friend indeed is hard to find
So I am blessed to know you are mine
Without you around I would be lost
And I will cherish you always, no matter the cost
To this day my love for you grows
We share our happiness, even our woes
I never thought I could care for you more
But the person you are I so much adore
You are the best friend I've ever had
And for that gift I am oh so glad
If the measure of a man are the friends he keeps
Then you alone put me on top of the heap
So as time rolls on with each passing day
I will be there with you every step of the way
To love and to listen when you need a friend
And it will be that way until the end

All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
