Tagging MP3s so Itunes or Windows Media Reads Them

So I am definitely late getting to the MP3 portable player game. I just finished converting all of my CDS to MP3 format and most are ready to upload. My problem is that I have several Pearl Jam bootlegs that when converted to MP3 do not bring over the song title/album information. I can't see to edit them in Windows Media player and Itunes doesn't change the actual tags on the file so my changes don't save.

So can anyone reccomend a good software program(preferrably free) that is easy to use and will change MP3 tags so that Itunes will recognize the files names and not just list them as Track1, TRack2, etc.

Thanks.
I got scratches all over my arms, one for each day since I fell apart.

Me you wouldn't recall for I'm not my former.

You might want to try some of the programs on this list: http://lifehacker.com/5266613/six-best-mp3-tagging-tools

I've only used the 5th one (Mp3Tag), but found it to work consistently and with a minimum of effort. Not sure about the others, but why not check them out? :)

    Happy to. Enjoy your Friday.

Also, if you have the time, post back here if you wind up liking/disliking any of the programs.

Not to overwhelm anyone, but there's a pretty good list here http://www.id3.org/Implementations (in the "Other Implementations" section) of different programs which may be used to edit ID3 tags. I won't vouch for any of them, but they may be worth looking at.

Winamp has an autotag feature that while not quite perfect, is very good at changing a lot of them at once. Note that you have to be connected to the Internet to make use of that feature.
