Questions about Las Vegas?!

Sooo my boyfriend is taking me to Las Vegas in April... not one of my first choices but hey I love to travel and its a place you gotta see at least once in your life and I can't turn down a free trip! ;):D

Though I'm not much of a gambler I do want to see some shows, but I don't want my boyfriend to buy the tickets since he's already paying for most of the trip... but I'm also broke with school and stuff...

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good but reliable place to get decent priced tickets? I really want to go to Cirque Du Soleil...

Also, we're only there for 3 and a half days... So I was also going to ask, best places to go? Shop? Eat?

don't go to the Chris angel Cirque Du Soleil, it is shit, probably the worst thing I have ever seen, lucky the tickets were free

David Copperfield was brilliant, I was sitting front row and I don't know how he did any of those tricks.

I didn't gamble much but go to all the different casino's some of them are amazing, go see the fountain show in front of the bellagio

I went for 3 days for my 30th birthday. Stayed at the bellagio and it was awesome. The show "O" is really good and there is also a beatles cirque show that I've heard good things about.

Leave the city limits and take your boyfriend to a brothel.

The bar at the hard rock doesn't charge admission like all the clubs and is actually pretty cool. But Vegas is a tough place to be when you're low on funds.

Do the Stratosphere. Go to the top and ride everything. I am not usually intimidated by amusement park rides, but being in the air 1100 or so feet and shooting up another 150 feet on a tiny little chair freaked me out a little. The roller coaster doesn't do much except hang over the side of the building and go in circles, but it was still worth it. The view of the city is amazing. I am not a kid, (45), but it was as fun as anything else I have done on my many trips to Vegas. Oh, I got married there 10 years ago . And that was very fun and still is.

here is my transportation tip of the day....you can get a bus pass for a few bucks (5?) and it's good for 24 hours. great cheap way to get up and down the strip. there is also a free shuttle that runs between the Palms and Harrah's (i believe harrah's is the stop for it)

if you wanna get hammered, play the penny slots and get yoru free drink then duck out without a tip. you'll only get one beer per waitress this way and lots of dirty looks to boot.

the steak house in Harrah's served me one of the best steaks that i've ever had. not cheap eats there, but man, does it melt in your mouth.

O looked cool with all the water too, but the trailer for KA caught my attention the most. Maybe i'll show him and see what he likes better..

I did this in Wendover when seeing Alice Cooper and in time I got cut off. I was told in order to continue drinking, I had to "bet more".

Fuck that, give me another White Russian.

I've been to Vegas plenty of times, but not since I've turned 21 :(

People watching is true. Crazy shit goes on in Vegas.

    Good info ! :)
Penny machines are good, we're on a good streak... my dad won over 500 dollars on a 2cent machine last week when we were with him... hopefully he can transfer some good luck to us!!
I think i'll HAVE to stick to penny machines

bus pass sounds good, we were wondering about that. i think we're staying more to the one end of the strip...

The problem here is no one should ever go to Vegas with their significant other....

I recommend "Phantom of the Opera", "The Lion King" or "Love" (the Beatles Cirque show). Sorry to burst your bubble but Ka is crap. "O" is o-kay. It put me to sleep though, literally. Wave and holler to me when your on top of the Stratosphere. :D See my avatar.

A very cool place to eat is the outdoor patio at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris Hotel. Steaks and French fare and your actually sitting on the strip across from the Bellagio fountains.

That's exactly what I was going to say. The acrobatics and all that are fantastic but we were told, when buying the tickets, that it was one of the few Cirque shows, quote, "With a real story line".

    An hour into the show, I turned to my Wife and whispered;

"Have you ANY idea what's going on?"

She was as lost as I was!

My friend got married at the Venetian in 08 and in the lobby, they have the timeshare people trying to sell you timeshares. I am not into it but they offered us 2 Phantom of the Opera tix which are like $85 each for $25 if we spent an hour looking at their timeshare and listening to their speel. We did it and it was worth it cause the show was awesome. That's one way to save some $$.

I really cannot stress enough how Vegas is built on booze, gambling, strippers, hookers, and blow.....and more drugs.

Been to Vegas many of times and here are my few suggestions!

    1) I would stay somewhere cheap but ideal location. Imperial Palace is dead center of the strip and half the price of other hotels. It's not the greatest hotel but for the amount you'll sleep it's fine! My wife and I both agree though that the Treasure Island is the best bang for your buck. Great rooms with the comfiest beds ever which is needed after a long day! We stayed in 6 different hotels in Vegas (MGM, NY NY, Wynn, TI, Imperial, Luxor)

    2) Set a curfew, even if it's like 4am. Go there with a time in mind where you plan to be in your room in bed or you will never sleep. Vegas is built on carpets with colours to stimulate your mind and pumped full of oxygen to keep you feeling refreshed.

    3) Whenever you're looking up at something ie)water fountain, pirate ship etc. don't forget about your wallet!

    4) Eat at the RIO buffet. It's off the strip but they have courtesy shuttles that leave Bally's every 15 minutes to take you to and from. It's the best buffet in Vegas hands down. Aim for a dinner buffet so you can watch the show in the sky afterwards. I think that happens nightly after 7pm, just ask once you get there.

    5) Hit old Las Vegas. Jump on the Deuce busses you see everywhere and it will drop you off at Old Vegas for like $4 round trip. It took me five trips before I ever made it there and I wish I would have gone there everytime! Great atmoshpere and casino's where you might actually have a hint of a chance at winning

    6) Last but not least, catch a show! I would suggest Cirque Du Soleil at Treasure Island called Mystere. It's the cheapest of the Cirque shows and arguably the best of the 9 my wife and I have seen.

Hope some of these ideas help.....have fun!!

i've seen quite a few cirque shows ... i would go see Love (the beatles one) before going to see O ... i know you said the boyfriend isn't a beatles fan but it's really one of the better all around shows ... and to answer your question - the best place to buy tickets is actually through the cirque du soleil website ... they often have deals ... if you sign up as a member - you get some good additional deals ...

also - i would priceline a hotel if you haven't booked already ... you can get some great deals ... i stayed at the trump (5 star) for $75 a night ...

Well I found a deal that my boyfriend booked... direct, return tickets from Vancouver and 3 nights at the Monte Carlo for less than 700 dollars including tax and a small donation to haiti which we could opt for :)

So that's covered, but you guys are giving me good tips on how to save money which is good if i wanna go to Pearl Jam in the summer

Anyone been to any of the clubs down there?
I saw a club hopper type pass thing for like 100 bucks i wonder if its worth it...

Can't offer any insight on clubs but the Monte Carlo has an awesome breakfast buffet
