So looks like someone is stealing all my wife's info. It started last week with someone using her CC in the Netherlands(this card is used as a last resort for us and has only been used 1 time in the past) and today she discovered that someone has her Debit Card and used it to make charges on our bank account. We are starting to go over all of our accounts and checking everything. We will change accounts cancel cards run our credit etc..

Has anyone ever had this happen? Also, we have been trying to see if there is a service that will assist us other then LifeLock as I have read some stories about how its a scam.
Thats a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?

I had some one break into my apt. and steal a few checks and some other info....

I contacted the bank and all my credit cards...disputed all charges that were not mine...It sucked, but it all worked out...

I say pull your credit report...https://www.annualcreditreport.com

Good luck...sorry to hear this happened...
  • This happened to me last week. My bank (thankfully) called to confirm recent transactions that had been flagged as suspicious. As it turns out, none of them were me. I closed my card, disputed the charges, and filed a police report. I don't know how this person got my information... it must have been over the internet, because my card never left me.

I would definitely recommend filing a police report, especially if the purchases were made on websites you've visited or ordered from before. I was also able to get information on the person who used my card from one of the companies, including their IP address and where the merchandise was shipped.

It's awful having to spend time fighting for your money back. Good luck!

If it's just credit/debit cards you are pretty fortunate (compared to those who's SSN has been used to do all sorts of crap)...

Not much you can do except cancel cards, change numbers, etc. But yeah, pull her credit reports and even if it's all good and everything settles down, pull it again in a couple months to make sure everything is still good.
