any ladies here compete??

I've been thinking about it seriously for a few months now and I just had an old elementary school friend reconnect over facebook and she in the derby too... she's really getting me to make the move closer to doing it. It's almost like it was fate that she popped up again in my life. :)

any thoughts on roller derby?

    roller derby looks like alot of fun

    I loved watching it as a kid, but I thought it was fake back then?

    The Derby scene in Philly is sweet too. Been to a bunch of matches(or whatever you wanna call them). The Philthy Britches are my personal favorite. The events are quite the scene to say the least.

    she was telling me the Liberty Bells are awesome too.

    I just have to get the balls to join... kicking ass once I join, not a problem!

    I just saw it briefly on Tv the other night,Australian teams competing......
    Full on,seems a very competative and rough sport,but also looked like alot of fun...you wont know till you try,goodluck :)

    Yeah, a cousin of mine did it for a while. But do it, and if ya do, I'm sure you'll get sucked into their world. Cool chicks.

    Yeah, the Liberty Bells are like the Philly rep team and they pool from the 4 local teams(the Britches being on of them). The best is at The Armory in the city - punk bands, random dogs hanging out, people drinking good beer. Good times.

    I'm by no means looking to be on the best team... planning on starting out somewhere local, though I doubt there's a mainline team! lol! I'm a good skater so that's not a problem, getting the nerve up is. I'm setting a goal of doing it come summer :D

    An old high school friend is on a team in Madison, Wisconsin. I've been invited by her to come check it out. Just have to find time to do so.

    I want to do Roller Derby but the Midlands in the UK isn't the best place in the world to find teams :(
    Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

    ... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

    A good friend of mine is on a Roller Derby team in Seattle... her name? Eddie Shredder
