Advice for learning drums...

Guitar is my primary instrument, I can sort of play already just from messing around but I'm going to take a more serious run at it. The drummer in my band is going to show me a few things but he doesn't have much time outside of band practice, and I don't have money for lessons, so I'm pretty much going to learn by playing alone to songs.

Any advice? good beginner songs? anything will help because I'm lost haha.

Just try doing what feels right for you, and watch other drummers play for correct positions etc. Try to tackle it in small bits because when you start out, the key is PATIENCE. You can find great advice from professional drummers if the have the time on freedrumlessons.com and even youtube.com

Learn these and you'll be well on your way. I think too many people overlook rudiments and just bang away on the set. Bu most importantly HAVE FUN with it!
