The End... PJ's best album closer
Yes, I'm saying it... as an album closer, it's even better than release. Although as a pure song, I'd probably give release the nod.
This may be the best song Ed's ever written. The fact that it's on the same album as Just Breathe and Unthought Known, is ridiculous. Ed really is getting better with age.

Here's a new demo called "in the fire":

Why not (V) (°,,,,°) (V) ?
The End kinda freaks me out actually. I mean, PJ's first album started with Once (upon a time), and now their latest one ends with The End. Think about it.....

To me, The End is as good as any other closer.... they're all so good
...is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?
Release
All Those Yesterdays
Parting Ways
Inside Job
Around the Bend
All or None
Indifference
Immortality (Foxy Mop doesn't count, so Immortality is the unofficial closer)
These are ALL better than The End.
As for closers...
Release is a 10. Indifference has fantastic lyrics. But, the chorus is beat. I'd give it a 9. Foxy Mop blows... it gets a zero. Around the Bend is about a 7. All Those Yesterdays is a 8. Parting Ways is an 8. All or None is a 7. Inside Job 7.5. The End is a 10.
Release vs. The End, I give the nod to The End.

Completely agree. The End is the worst PJ closer on the list.
And I don't think that's necessarily a knock on the song either... Every single one of those closers above it are fantastic.
I think Inside Job should get more love than it does on here... Very underrated song.

The song "the end" is a beautiful one. However, i wish the studio version either involved the whole band or stripped it down to just Ed. The strings take away from it. Also, the second verse is a little too direct which limits my interpretation ability.
I don't think it's their best but i definitly think it is a strong enough caliber to be a PJ album closer. No easy feat
Immortality is a close second

I agree with this one!
Inside Job is a close second for me though.
