    wow . . . really surprised . . . quite a few folks really dislike Unthought Known . . . . it might not be one of their strongest, but not even close to one of the weakest.

    I wasn't posting an opinion...the DJ on 1077 the End stated it is the new single from backspacer.


    Is there anyone from Seattle here that will back me up??? For fucks sake it seems like the End has been playing it every hour.

    If it is I'd be cool with that, but according to Wiki they haven't announced a new single yet.

    I'm still hearing Just Breathe, The Fixer, and a few other songs thrown in the mix at our local "rock" stations. Supersonic has charted in the UK though.

    It's about f'n time Unthought Known is a single. It's pretty much the only good song on Backspacer.

    Unthought Known was my initial favorite on Backspacer


    now I like Amongst the waves better as a single candidate......not sure why though.

    Unthought Known doesn't really have a hook. There's no definite chorus. It builds. I think Amongst the Waves is a better choice because it has a hook.

    You are correct . . . I live in Western Washington (Tacoma) and can confirm 107.7 is playing it a lot . . . like it is a new single ;-) I didn't hear them say it is a new single, but I would not be surprised if it was in fact a radio only (new) single at this point.

    107.7 The End has a long history of playing pj stuff before they are suppose to . . . usually the weekend prior (Friday night through Sunday) to the big announcement. Not sure if that means anything this time around . . . like new single or U.S. Tour dates?

    Here's an idea. Maybe PJ releases Unthought Know as a single, kind of like the Dissident singles off Vs. This time instead of the Atlanta concert it will be parts of the Philly shows.

    Probably not gonna happen, but that would be cool.

    I heard Unthought Known on the End about 2 weeks ago. Nothing about new single, but it wouldn't surprise me.

    For those of you that don't like the song have you heard it live? It blew me away in Portland and L.A....from then I was hooked. It is now in my top 5 all-time favorite Pearl Jam songs.

    I can't see how someone doesn't like this song....that's crazy talk.

    I think it's a very good song. Just because it's simple and straightforward does not mean it's bad. It really soars. It's especially great live.

    It is amazing to me how divided PJ fans are on Backspacer. I love it and don't see how any true PJ fan could think it's a crappy record, but many do. I guess that's music...it's all about taste.

    on the surface the lyrics are pretty simple and maybe a bit corny
    but that is deceiving
    what he is actually talking about is some deep shit man
    It you are ever able to turn your mind off completely
    and there is nothing there, nothing left, nothing there, nothing left
    that is when you know the power of "unthought"

    when you realize that you know nothing, you know everything.

    do not dismiss this song

    it has more to it than you may have thought

    now that my thoughts are known I think I would have been better off to have unthought them...
    isn't it almost always the case...

    It is a very very good song. I am surprised it will be their next single. It builds and builds...that is a very cool part of the song. Amongst the Waves makes sense as next single but I will be happy with either one. Who really cares which single is next. I don't listen to the radio for PJ material. I think it is great when some comes on but they have never been a radio type of band......On my cable muscic station it lists the last two singles of PJ as pop which really sucks and really blew me away...Ok I'm rambling
