i can see it now....3/11 and 3/12 stint on letterman leading up to the snl performance.

dave introduces them by saying "our next guest is one of the greatest bands of the last twenty years. their last album, backspacer, has just gone gold. they will be playing on saturday night live in a couple days. and they have a new box set dvd of their october shows at the spectrum in philadelphia coming out on tuesday. ladies and gentlemen, here they are....PEARL JAM!"

:clap::clap::clap::clap: :thumbup: :wave:

this HAS to happen.

    I worked for a band who played SNL. It took pretty much all week in preparation for the show. I highly doubt it would happen. The week following or the week before is another question.

    Well, that answers that. It's possible. I think it is highly unlikely, but possible.

    I think there's probably some gentleman's agreement that he wouldn't play an NBC program and a CBS program within the same week.

    that doesn't make sense...then the friday show is nearly a week out of date (opening monologue wise) not to mention tuesday-thursday shows will be more up to speed than friday shows...if they were to film 2 shows in one day, then they would have to be for consecutive episodes and not over the weekend.

    watch the friday show monologue...it won't be very topical aqnd is usually shorter than others during the week

    this must have changed recently. i know someone who went to a 2nd thursday show that aired friday. this was like 5 years ago. also, when pearl jam was on to promote riot act they filmed the thursday and friday shows both on thursday night.

    What band did you work for?

    Why does it take so long for prep? What is involved?

    I'm curious about this too. Mainly because almost every good live band I've ever seen perform on SNL has sounded like shit on that stage. The sound there is just awful most of the time. Muffled and mixed poorly.
