Neglected Songs

  • Am I the only one that loves Last Soldier? Great tune they only played 2 times. Played both nights of the Bridge Benefit in Oct of 2001. It was also on that years Christmas single. I don't know why this song doesn't get talked about more. Give it a good listen a few times.

Also, I would love them to play Other Side for once. I can name quite a few that I love that get neglected. Ive been to close to 40 shows, so there isn't a ton I haven't heard. But Strangest Tribe is another song I wish they would play. Definitely different sounding, but great nonetheless.

Angel comes to mind. I also have this theory that Bugs could be a good comic relief played after a serious song or at the top of a first encore.

We probably won't ever hear Angel again because it was a Dave A. song. And that's too bad because a lot of people WANT to hear it. :?

Are you kidding? They brought it back in 2006 and they've played it at practically every show since.

  • Haha! This post is absured!

How many other bands play over 100 different songs on one tour? Or almost 100 songs over the span of 3 shows?

To answer the question, I think Ed should pull out one of his old typewriters from the collection, hold the mic to it, and bang out "Writer's Block"!

What is absurd to me is that the band seemed to take so much enjoyment out of not playing these songs for a whole tour or even several tours and then spring them on us with equal enjoyment. It does good to keep something in the locker for a while and I've managed to get quite excited at the prospect of looking for a boot because of one long lost song, Breath, Wash, Satans Bed, Leash, Rats, Hold On, Deep, No Way, Why Go amongst others all returned after healthy abscences so hopefully on this tour some of these will become regular live staples. It's amazing to think some of these weren't played for anything from a whole tour to 6 or 7 years!!

I totally agree. I like how they take certain songs out of their rotation. I'd love to know why they do that for each song. It would be cool to hear the story behind it, if their even is one. But they are aware of it. Many times we let them know about it just in case. I remember the Breath campain in 98. It just so happend that they broke it out at my 1st PJ show at MSG. I thought the place was gonna explode. Still one of my favorite PJ moments ever. But it is special when they play something that has been on the shelf for years. I've been lucky to see many songs get played for the 1st time in years:

    98-Breath at MSG (4 years)
03-Satan's Bed at Penn St (7 years)
    03-Rats in Albany (8 years)
03-All Those Yesterdays in Boston (5 years)
    04-Alone in Boston (10 years)
04-I've Got A Feeling in Boston (10 years, same show as Alone)
    06-Leash in Boston (12 years)
06- I'm Open in Hartford (1st time played)
09-Push Me. Pull Me in Philly (11 years)
    09-Deep in Philly (6 years)
09- No Way in Seattle (11 years)
    09-Pilate in Philly(9 years)
09-Bugs in Philly (never played before)
09-Out Of My Mind in Philly (15 years)
09- Ghost in Philly (6 years)
09- Mankind in Philly (6 years)
09- Rival in Philly (6 years)
09- Hold On in Philly (1st time played)
09- Sweet Lew in Philly (1st time played)
09- Habit in Philly (4 years)

    Of The Girl:

I don't care how many times they've actually played it, I've never seen it at the 11 shows i've been to and i want to!

Maybe i just feel neglected???

I feel the same way. This song tops the list of PJ songs I most want to hear live.
