What is it?

Meaning....what song do you LOVE that is sort of out of sync with your other musical tastes? And even though you know it is sort of a cheesy/terrible/embarrassing song, you love it anyway.

Mine is definitely "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" by Looking Glass. I can't help myself. It's got hardened sailors and lovestruck barwenches and the SEA!!! Also, I just kind of love 70's mellow gold.

I'll go hang my head in shame now.

  • I don't know if it's embarrassing or not, but I spent a couple of days recently listening to Yes by Mcalmont and Butler on repeat, I'll let you guys be the judge:

I could listen to She's Gone by Hall & Oates all day. Also a big fan of some Alicia Keys songs. Are those embarrasing?

Im not sure that liking that song is anything to be ashamed of. The Red Hot Chili Peppers cover that song in the Hype Park CD (i think). Either way its a good song.

Mine might be Lady in Red. It makes me cry.
I sometimes wonder if they know that I'm gone...

Wow! No need to hang your head in shame at that one. A classic from the era of 70's one hit wonders! This was the last song I did karaoke. Tore the f'n roof off the place.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again, my hands down guilty pleasure song/artist is Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20. I can't explain it, they are such pussies and their rock is so generic, but I love it!

Um that is my karaoke JAM. Can we please go do karaoke sometime?!?

And pussy rock is what my husband and I refer to as 'safely rockin'. See: Richard Marx, Bryan Adams.
  • Ive seen Bryan Adams three times! Hahaha

What are your favorite karaoke songs? I have a nice rotation of about 5-7 songs, including Brandy, Jessie's Girl, 867-5309 (Jenny), Huey Lewis Power of Love, Im Just a Girl, Two Tickets to Paradise, and Poker Face. Pretty much anything by Huey Lewis does the trick at karaoke.

I tend to use the F word a lot during karaoke, so Ive been asked to leave once or twice.

  • Also it should be noted that the greatest karaoke duet song is Don't Go Breakin' My Heart by Elton John and Kiki Dee. My Ex-GF and I have done that once or twice to rave reviews.

My husband and I regularly do "99 Problems" by Jay-Z. That and "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins and whatshisface.
  • I actually have a lot to atone for while we're on this subject. Since we're all friends here, I actually have Britney Spears, Christina, Miley, Pink and Taylor Swift on my iPod. And I listen to it. Seriously. Hahahaha, I'm gonna get killed for this! Pretty bad for a 28 year old heterosexual male!

For me, BJ Thomas' Hooked on a Feeling. I'm not really emabarrassed about it because it's a great song, just not something I would blast with the windows down driving past a biker bar or something.

WOW!! It feels good to get that off my chest...only one person knew that before
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
