I'll start it out. We recorded an acoustic EP back in August and it's finally seeing the light of day (band infighting caused the delay). I'm the singer/bassist. Band name is The Dime Sized Drops. Anyone who is a fan of the Headstones (or a drug addict) will understand the reference.

Already did. But in case... (sorry, the sound's pretty bad and, since I Had written the lyrics a week before recording, I was bad, especially my voice/accent)

I think should have had taken more time to do that.

we have a thread or 2 on the board somewhere, but here it goes!

i've been collaborating with a fellow pit member (Chris...or "2-feign-reluctance")for about 6 months. we play all of the instruments & it's all original. we live about 700 miles apart and have done it all online. we're releasing our first record in about a month or so on iTunes & Amazon and we're having an absolute blast!

Good stuff man! I keep trying to coordinate this kind of project with a buddy of mine but we never get around to swapping files. Luckily I have a creative outlet with my band, but we don't hit all the areas I want to get into.

how do you send the files? what program? I have two of my best friends, one in Toronto (bass), the other in Vancouver (drums), and I'm in Winnipeg (vocals, guitar), and I'd love to do something like this.

here's a rough idea for you:
    1. say i record a song in Garageband (use any program)
    2. send the mp3 to Chris
    3. he adds his parts in Garageband & sends me an mp3
    4. if there are any changes to be made, we make them to the individual tracks
    5. he uploads the individual aif files to dropbox
    6. i grab the tracks & place them in the song
    7. the trickiest part is the mixing, which i do next.

i can't remember which audio recording interface he uses, but i use a Motu828mkII. we both use garageband & share files through dropbox. dropbox is a GREAT program & it's free. hope this helps!

we have our first show coming up next week...we might do a cover of never let you go by third eye blind or a medley of let's get it on by marvin gaye/use me by bill withers/lean on me by bill withers.

    feedback is appreciated.

Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.
