"circumstance, clapping hands
driving winds, happenstance
off the track, in the mud"

.....thats the "trampled moss on your souls"

Just not quite clear what this is suppose to mean.

I believe the song is saying that it's the hardships we go through that will define us and determine our interpretaion of the world around us. - - The major events in our life will help determine our purpose, whats our purpose? Who we are. - - essentially saying that even a stop light, although it might seem insignificant, plays an important role... and so do you... being who you are... as a result of the trampled moss on your soul... has helped define who you are...
