No disrespect to Green Day but I would not miss the STP gig for them. Sadly I have plans that day otherwise I would been going :( Work commitments take me to Birmingham that week so no chance for me sadly.

im going with 3 friends, i let them down last year with a holiday to corfu fully booked and said no im going to see pearl jam and went to manchester london and berlin instead... i feel i cant do this again.

think STP will come round again before the year is out. they surely cant just do festivals in all of Europe.
is more of a trip to Manchester for few days and GreenDay along the way!
  • Cool! Luck buggers :D

I wish they were playing in Scotland!!!
    Let them wash away
    All those yesterdays

  • Anyone have any ideas when the tickets will be on sale? Don't want to pay $50 to join the fan club for the presale if i can help it!

I've just spent the last half an hour searching everywhere I can think of, and can't find anything. I'm guessing details will be released this coming week. O2 customers should get a presale since O2 now run Brixton Academy. I already have a ticket to Download, so I'll definitely be seeing them this summer, but I really want to see a full show. One of the best live bands I've ever seen, and I'm desperate to see them again!

I got to hold out this time, how ever much i want to go A LOT more than GD.
but after cancelling holidays last year for Pearl Jam, of which none of my friends are fans and dont understand my music tastes, i cant do it again.

STP. I will have to wait for.

This gig seems to have disappeared from the STP website now! :(

I wonder if this means they are going to try and play somewhere a bit bigger in London (Wembley arena/O2?) or just that they are skipping a headline UK show altogether?

    Anyone heard anything?

I'm not saying this is THE reason, but it could potentially be the reason why this show was removed from the site:

Quite often when a band is playing on a festival bill, the promoter will have built into the contract a clause that states that the band is not allowed to play their OWN show within a certain amount of days either side of the festival date. If this is not the case, sometimes a festival contract may instead state that the band is not allowed to advertise their own show until a certain amount of the festival tickets have been sold.

This is to encourage people to attend the festival to see even one band who might otherwise skip the festival and go to said band's own concert.

    I hope this makes sense.

    ah clever!

seems like the only logical reason but what does it matter now, all the press knows.
  • or maybe it has just been cancelled?

I can't see why it'd be cancelled - plenty of fans in the UK and London. I think the Download festival opposition is probably the case - last year they made a big deal about Faith No More's only UK show, which it didn't turn out to be - their show at Brixton was only announced a month or two before it took place.

I'm still holding out on thi being the case for a PJ appearence at Glasto - the chaps in charge at Glasto hinted as such when I emailed, stating some bands couldn't be announced until they'd sold out their tours elsewhere first (so the other way round to this STP situation).

Sweet, cheers for the update. I presume there will be some presales between now and then.

Cheers for the link I've just booked. I'll be seeing them twice within the space of a few days! That'll make up for the 9 year wait to see them again!

Might have to do that! It's gonna depend whether work will let me go early, I've got three gigs and Download Festival to go to in June, and they are none too amused!

Everyone bought Download tickets because that looked like the only date they were playing?

    Gimmie your mobile then.
  • I am going to both Dublin and Brixton, provided the band shows up of course. And Brixton will also depend on that volcanic ash cloud not cancelling my flight to London for me, of course. Haven't seen STP since 2001-it's gonna be great if Weiland ain't fucking hammered like at a couple of those US March 2010 shows (recordings at dimeadozen.org). He was awful.

Out of the 2 STP shows and 3 VR shows I've seen, Weiland's never let me down yet, so I'm hopeful. Too bad they're ony doing 80 minute sets these days...
