Horror Film Challenge

In my Newspaper today is the following:

A Bollywood filmmaker has issued a lucrative challenge to horror movie fans: a $US10,000. reward for anyone who can watch his latest supernatural thriller, alone, in a cinema until the closing credits.
Ram Gopal Varma's PHOONK 2, a sequel to his 2008 film of the same name, is about an evil spirit that traumatises a family. Varma said the film fan who stepped up to the challenge would be wired up to a heart monitoring machine as well as a camera that ensured his/her eyes remained open during the whole movie.

So, there you have it, $US10,000. would not go astray toward a PJ tour :D

Who here would do it? I couldn't, I watch horror movies from between the small gaps in my fingers. ;)

I could do it. Nothing is too violent for me......as long as it's a movie, I know it's fake. I actually admire some of the special effects wizards who can create some of the more gory scenes in movies. And $10,000 would move mountains for me.

  • this must be some movie, i mean, to make a challenge like that. there must be some horrific stuff in this movie. as a horror film fanatic, this intrigues me, but it also makes me queasy, to think of what will be included in this film. I wonder if some stuff, similar to things mentioned on this board in the last few months, videos of real people being killed, is included in this film. if that is the case, i think this is a bad idea
  • the point of it all, is this director, if they are at all semi intelligent, knows the stupidity and worthlessness of most american horror films, at least modern day ones, so again, to make a claim like this, you most likely are bringing the goods. which is pretty damn scary in itself
  • i've seen regular movies that were so bad i SHOULD have been paid that kind of money :?

but no, i wouldn't do it. can't stand horror movies, i've only seen a couple in my lifetime.

i would do it...but it is a bollywood movie. so that means that it's at least 9.5 hours long.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

Sorry, but that movie does NOT look that scary. Like a mix between Paranormal Activity and Hostel, both of those were hugely overrated in the scary dept. I will count that $10,000 while lauging.

I do love supernatural horror movies, but not the violent type like phsycos chopping up people.

Has anyone here looked into signing up for this wager?

I'm just thinking I have a strong heart and could always ' Gaffa Tape ' my eyes open, just to get $US10,000. for Pearl Jams 20th Anniversay fund......... :D

    Easy peasy.

    Looks like a decent comedy.
  • It would be a piece of cake. I think the only reason he's doing it is for the obvious marketing. Why else would anyone be talking about a Horror Bollywood movie on a Pearl Jam message board?

    i'd give it a whirl.

    it's marketing strategy.
10,000 is nothing for the film maker.
    and it sure generates hype.
