So who is getting this today or who has it and listened to it already?

I held out and did not get the leak. I'm actually going to pick this up this morning. I know best buy has it on sale for 8 bucks, but i'll probably check out itunes to make sure there are no extra songs on there before i buy.

I say the allmusic review gave it 4.5 stars and spoke pretty highly of it. The Decibal review was not as favorable but still good.

Fuck it's Matt Pike how can it be bad. What do you all think so far?

    I listened to the first 7 songs.

    It is definatly a fucking high on fire album. The riffs are massive. I understand about some of the complaints about the production. It is not bad, but the drums could be much better.

    The first half of the album seemed more interesting then the second half. The album really kicks you in the face with the opening jam on Snakes for the Devine.

    What i love about a high on fire album is i already know i'll like it. I'm gonna go straight to the gym after work and jam to it while i work out. So many albums i can't do that with, but HoF always deliver the jam!

    pre-ordered the deluxe edition on best buy. it comes with 3 extra tracks. can't wait to hear it. high on fire are one of the most raw and powerful bands out there today.
    Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
    Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
    Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

    * "Mystery of Helm"
    * "Eyes and Teeth" (live)
    * "Cometh Down Hessian" (live)

    are the best buy exclusive tracks. cometh down hessian is one of my favorite songs by them...can't wait to hear that one.

    bonnaroo seems to have one kick ass metal band every year...high on fire last year, now isis for this year's lineup.

    Agreed about bonoroo i think the year before that they had mastodon. Is baroness playing this year too?

    I think you got the better end with the best buy tracks. I love Cometh Down Hessian too. PRetty much everything form Blessed Black Wings is good.

    This album is good but after three listens i like the last two better.

    just reading the liner notes and where it lists the equipment they use, it states that they use first act guitars.

    i don't know if anyone knows much about first act guitars, but aren't they the shitty musical instruments that are sold only at wal-mart and target?

    just found that funny...

    1. Had to jump in as a smart ass because it was only you two in here.
    2. High On Fire is fuckin' killer, saw them open for Mastodon and Dethklok (I ignore the fact that Converge was there because I really don't like them.)
    3. I'm really going to have to check this album out. Anything High On Fire will destroy.

    that is funny. I'm assuming it is a joke, because i've seen some of the guitars pike plays and they don't look like they were cheap.

    I put the album in today and listened to it from the path on and that was probably a good idea. It helped me start getting into the second half more. I really like How Dark We Pray. I was reading on another blog that one guy mentioned they should have switched How dark we pray and Holy Fire Flamespitter around and closed with that and i have to agree.

    My friend dropped by with this album and we gave it a listen; just what I expected from Pike and Co. Pretty cool album.

    I also agree about Matt's guitars, seeing them play before Mastodon was the first time I had ever seen them live, but his axes certainly look good quality. In fact, I'd be willing to be they're custom made. I'm pretty sure they had more strings then 6 on them.

    He plays the guitar like a possessed wizard. The cool shit he does with his hands in between striking chords is very mystical, in a metal sort of way. 8-)

    This album keeps getting better. It is very heavy and some of it runs together, but the more you listen to it the more technical pieces come to life.

    Still loving it.

    That is pretty awesome for a radio (even an xm) station to do!

    It is a great song/album
