School district spies on students via webcams

anyone see this story? it comes from the town next to mine - Lower Merion school district in Pennyslvania which has given out laptops to all students within the district has been accused of spying on students using a webcam that the school district can remotely activate to take pictures from each laptop's webcam. frighenting and pretty disgusting that anyone in this district administration thought this was a good idea.
it is a huge story in philly area now with the school district possibly facing federal charges in the use of the webcams.

This is right near me too. I read about it and it was talking about how the assitant principle viewed a highschool doing something..."wrong". Looks like 1984 is coming true one laptop at a time. Its insane how no one thought that was a bad idea...wow

i'm still trying to figure out why a school needs to give every student a laptop.
