1 - there are numerous other studies that scientifically "prove" increases of anywhere between 18-59 cms and 0.75m to 1.9m! This study that has some admitted errors is on the low side of the scientific community's estimates - those other studies haven't been retracted.
2 - it isn't a novelty for studies to be retracted or to be republished with new information. This isn't anything new... it just happens to be about the environment, which leads me to my next point,
3 - the time is ripe for some new skeptical climate change stories... WOW how many people viewed that article?!?! How much money did the Guardian make off of that story?

I did a study myself. I went to the beach for the last 15 or so years and saw that the ocean is in the same place it has always been.
I found my place......and it's alright

Yeah that might be so but some things at the beach things change and have to be moved. I was there during the prep work for this move on the Outer Banks.
Why Move a Lighthouse?
Originally, the lighthouse sat 1,500 feet from the shoreline. But because of storms and erosion, at the time of the move, the lighthouse stood only a few feet from the beach. Something had to be done or it would soon topple into the sea.
The National Park Service, which owns the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, on which the lighthouse sits, proposed moving the lighthouse and its outbuildings 2900 feet in an effort to place it as far away from the sea as it had been in 1870.
The Controversy
The proposed move of the lighthouse sparked opposition by many who feared any attempt at relocation would destroy the famous landmark. There were concerns that the old lighthouse could not survive such a move, that disturbing its structure would cause it to crumble or topple into the sea. Other lighthouses in the New England area had been relocated, but the moving of the Hatteras lighthouse caused different concerns. The sandy beach and the towering height of 207 ½ feet made moving made moving the nation’s tallest lighthouse a bigger risk.

we're talking about increases of centimeters or inches... of course it looks the same in most places. OBX... is a good example of where you could tell a difference over that short of a period of time. 15 years isn't even a blip on the screen of time...

What's wrong with saying "I don't know"? I think there is not enough information on either side.
Because Al Gore won an Academy Award and a Nobel Peace Prize making this b.s. up and fooled a whole bunch of people. I know people who are genuinely scared that their kids won't be able to go outside in the future! Now, the "scientists" who concocted this crap are finally comming clean and telling the truth.

Ocean City, MD had an erosion problem too about 15 years ago. But the climate catastrophy in vouge then was a hole in the ozone.
