Unbelievable show last night at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Jeff Beck opened with his band performing an instrumental set of about 45 minutes that seemed to only last about 10 minutes it flowed so well...that man can do almost anything with a guitar...I never imagined a person could speak with his hands...then Clapton took the stage with his band and performed four acoustic songs then rocked out for the remainder of his 45 minutes or so before Jeff joined Clapton and the performed many great blues covers including great covers of Sly and the Family Stone and even the classic Moon River...it was simply amazing how well these two guys performed...perfect sound, unbelievable tone...true professionalism and phenomenal musicianship...one of only six shows they will perform together...for those who were in attendence, remember this one forever.

As a fan of both Clapton and Beck, this sounds like a great night!

glad to hear you enjoyed it - I wanted to go, but couldn't afford the tix. The Star ripped Clapton pretty hard this morning (focusing on the fact that Clapton never broke a sweat and kinda phoned it in) - happy to hear you felt otherwise.
  • I really wanted to go to this show, especially as I have never seen Jeff Beck. Unfortunately the ticket price was fucking stupid. I saw Clapton at the ACC in 2006 for $125 in 2008 he jacked his ticket price to $225. Last year Jeff Beck Ottawa Blues Fest $35, a few nights later in Montreal $179.

Actually, I sat in the first row of the 300 section, directly (as in one degree more than paralell) to the side of the stage. They were not front row seats of course but they were great seats and both bands had amazing sound...only paid $107 for the ticket so the $500 wasn't necessary to still enjoy it...

There's no doubt that Beck is more dynamic than Clapton, it's innovator versus purist, but I wouldn't agree that Clapton mailed it in...he did though, do a very traditional set...I'm more a fan of Beck than Clapton but both were incredible...the one little complaint was that after Beck, Clapton opened with an acoustic set which, while great, did slow the pace down obviously...but his technigue and musicianship was impeccable and on an acoustic guitar nonetheless
