Boston Help!

Just finished reading some of the puke thread (freakin' hilarious)... Boston was the scene of the crime. So many innocent people. I keep getting this visual of people laughing, singing, then thinking to themselves, "Oh my gawd. Brutal!" Chicks with their hair going all limp... guy's hair gel melting. Nose hairs burning. Yeesh. I can relate though- some guy near us smoked a joint at the Metallica concert... got all woozy-like... spewed... passed out in his chair. Missed the whole show except the last song (seek and destroy). We laughed at first, but then stopped- the stink was the shits. I wasn't feeling too friendly towards him.

Thought I'd ask: can any of the folks in Boston recommend a hotel really close (short walking distance) to Northeastern University (the main campus) that isn't unbelieveably expensive, but decent for a family (summer, pool, etc.)?

  • I loved that thread and always thought it should have been on the Porch the entire time. I'd also like to add that at the second VFC04 show at the Garden there was a drunk girl that fell down three rows and took me and a few other poor souls out. It was hilarious but not cool at the same time.

A lot of the hotels in that area are kinda expensive on the whole. Check around for some deals if you know what dates you're coming. There are several hotels near Copley. It is worth mentioning that our T system is pretty good and no matter where you're staying, you aren't too far away. Hope that helps.

Ha, funny you say that. I was at that show too and I was at about center ice 3 rows up in the balcony and there was this chick about 16 or 17 with her friends 2 rows in front of me. After Eddie's I am a Patriot pre-opener, these kids come up and they were literally dragging this girl to her seat. She was so fucked up. She sat down and passed out and right before Death Cab came out, she threw up all over the stairs in the aisle. The cleaning crew came and took care of it but this chick was out cold for the rest of the show. She woke up right at the end and was looking around wondering where she was. It was hilarious. Waste of money for her.

Sorry to hijack the thread, BTW.

  • Eddie's always complaining about the security at shows, especially in the earlier days, and where are the security there? That girl shoulda been escorted out. The girl/wrecking ball that ran me and others down was shown the door, why not superdrunk passed out girl?

I know. Security didn't even come by until the lights were down and by then the mess had been cleaned up. But they came out in full force once the weed was sparked up.

  • edit: Fenway... just saw your Copley recommendation. I think I have my answer. Thanks for making the effort!

    So...

When I search options on hotwire... is Northeastern U. in Back Bay Copley Square area... or Cambridge... or... Waltham Newton... or... ?

I have google searched and phoned a few times to the school... but I get no solid answers.

Never been there. Have no idea where to book... but priceline and hotwire are def. the way to go!

    * Concert gomers! Saw a few at the gorge show for Dave Matthews 2nd night. Rained really, really hard. Grass hill was slippery as anything. People were taking Massive falls not negotiating the slippery slopes well enough... taking people out... getting whiplash... spilling stuff all over themselves and others... too funny. Glad it wasn't me.

  • No problem friend. Copley Square is down the street from Northeastern maybe 3-4 T stops. Cambridge and Newton are a bit of a haul to Northeastern, even by T. If you're bringing the family in the summertime you gotta do the swan boats in the public gardens. A Boston gem. Hope you enjoy our wonderful city.

Northeastern U is on Huntington Ave in Boston. To be completely honest, most of the hotels in the immediate area are pricey. You might be able to get good deals on priceline or another website. It is just down the street from Copley Sq. Like Fenway Faithful was saying, the MBTA or T as we call it will take you anywhere you need to go in the city for $2 a ride. So if you find a better price somewhere a couple miles a way, Northeastern is a stop on the T on the Green Line. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks Fenway and Youngster! The wife is wondering what we might be doing? Swan boats sound great!
